Mugen AP1, does your user name reflect the car you drive and aftermarket components on the car? If so...got any pics?

After some fun with the glue gun this morning yielded a new spanner/wrench rack, I had a little shuffle about in my toolbox (a KRA59K)

2s16fph.jpg

zuhvut.jpg

Spanner drawers
90vt75.jpg

Hammer, chisels, punches, small saw, magnetics, etc
2ltpq89.jpg

Drivers and handled tools, such as picks, scrapers, trim tools, etc
nd3o8o.jpg

The "chrome" drawer - sockets, ratchets, extensions and associated adapters
iqd4ao.jpg

Pliers and some cutting tools such as knives, blades, etc.
11k9jt3.jpg

And the "bottom drawer full of ****" and other stuff that doesn't fit in the other drawers
2n245cj.jpg

As I move away from using tools for a living (I used to be a windscreen tech, now I'm a train driver) I'm clearing out some of the more specialised tools to make room for more "regular" tools. The second full width drawer used to be my "cutting drawer" that housed tools I needed for cutting out windscreens and cutting back the bond from apertures.

2ypj2p4.jpg

Since I don't need that anymore, I moved the pliers from the top left drawer, to make way for the flex-head ratchet spanners that were in the ratchet drawer previously, which allowed me to "uncramp" the ratchet drawer as well as lay out the pliers, which, to get in that small drawer, was a real game of tetris otherwise the drawer wouldn't close!

Still a work in progress, and I would like a bit more space economy and efficiency - it'd be really great if I could find/make/fit a double width drawer for the two small spanner drawers, as well as clear out the **** from the bottom drawer and use a wire rack to store all the pliers standing up rather than laying down like they do currently.

Got my 84" epiq hutch yesterday. Also got confirmation that my box just shipped yesterday. I feel like I got blue balled by snap on :lol_hitti

Hope my power locker is shipping with the box

Thanks! I did one similar about 4 years ago (HERE) which is slightly different - thicker piece of foam I cut parts out of. I made that one so it "gripped" the spanners as my box was a mobile box back then - now it's a static box I just needed something to compact their storage (previously they'd been in the plastic clip-rack they came in, which looks great but takes up huge amounts of space), so I just glued strips of that foam onto another piece of foam and boom - instant rack! Shame it wasn't a little bit wider and it would have fitted the remaining two spanners on the left, but I might glue a couple extra bits to it next time I've got the hot glue gun out

I picked up a red KRSC326 on Craigslist to replace my Harbor Freight cart, now it matches my main box. It’s not as clean as it looks, but the price was right and I’m using it primarily for bodywork supplies so it’s going to get covered with dust and overspray anyway.

I am thoroughly impressed, after seeing all these amazing high end setups

I’m not a shop professional, just a weekend hobbyist.

Eventually, I will get all my tools consolidated into one location. My chest is out at the Farm, I have a ton more tools here at the house.

It's been a while since I've posted. I've been lurking though. Here is a humble picture of (some of) my toolboxes.

I love those old Snap On carts. I've been looking for one for a while, I can only seem to find rust buckets.

Snapped a couple pics of my setup at home. Nothing super special but I do love tools and working on stuff. I am just an average DIY fix stuff around the house and maintenance on my wife and I's cars kinda guy. I have lots more drawers on the main box, other boxes and my cart I'll try and grab pics of those later.

My life is complete. Replaced the krsc430 with a kemw361 epic work station. Going to get a vise mounted to it as a mobile work bench. (As it was designed for)

Typical model of Ebay, I suppose that of Chinese manufacture.
The Snap-on are some stickers (put by me).

Well got some upgrades for the garage.
After reading many reviews and drooling over the tool box organization thread I pulled the trigger on a new toolbox
I rented a pick up truck from the local u haul.
And bought a 44inch harbor freight tool chest.
Part number 69387
They loaded it up with a fork lift.
6419E426-727C-4A33-940C-2AABE43806D4_zpsxxlfo4ty.jpg

Loaded up.
6191D4B4-E976-4A39-887E-95539BA012A7_zps3plmuqgi.jpg
I strapped it in with one ratchet strap pinched between the tailgate.

0FEE2834-FB4B-4713-8ADC-44C07D616BAE_zps4h38xroz.jpg

I had a short drive home
I got home and tipped it on its back.
88B2203E-B1A7-429B-A817-37AC90CE4061_zpsgbydwdwf.jpg
I took off the pallet and unboxed it and tipped it out of the truck with the help of two friends.
All set up
20E1679C-CEE2-4EB3-B9F2-3EFE1F2359A3_zpsmabgxsjx.jpg

then i got a butcher block top from my friend warren
got it home. its freaking heavy
8D43D27F-79F8-4A2F-AFB8-005AE86EE877_zpsbosj6qj3.jpg

mocked up for now

Update
I got a nice piece of mdf cut to size on the panel saw at Home Depot
It's 41.5X17.5
It's going to be a spacer between the top of the box and the butcher block.

100AC64F-63D1-4B49-9834-7FAE26502B59_zpscymasbgt.jpg

I took the top drawer thanks to the help of a YouTube video by user R.J. Workshop

Trying to get a game plan going.
AB6333CE-7DD1-4CC7-AEA5-D0BFF7128984_zpsfq9tqrop.jpg

Sears had a sale on this 4 inch black bench vice. So I picked one up.
478A4A21-0A94-4CCD-B39D-D59A241BB25C_zps6kmzqjkd.jpg

The mounting holes had excess flashing so bad that the bolts wouldn't fit.
B516C302-9499-4EA8-A4B7-EC6C39794A89_zpsmvi6rd3d.jpg
The vice couldn't only pivot half way before it got bound up.
More flashing in the way.
08075839-B971-4653-907E-1A68C937AC80_zpsfrghdutg.jpg

There are bits and pieces of flashing that had to be removed for it to operate smoothly.

Dremel and a carbide tool made quick work of the flashing.
CCC1B684-7541-4442-A6BD-D07164DF40D8_zpsvmltmd7t.jpg

I machined a nice base all squared up for the vice.

05DC8E83-46BF-41F5-9CF7-2BC3AF28B1C1_zpsdzmfkjeb.jpg

I machined some soft jaws also.

I bought hardware that ended up being to short so still have to wait on mounting the vice.
Here is the new vice.
Soft jaws
Bolts
Nuts
Washers
Base plate
823914AD-FE6B-4D87-A317-CACD68AFD953_zpscpjbhqhd.jpg

Mdf spacer attached to the bottom of the butcher block to act as a spacer between the tool box since it has a metal lip around the sides and back.
DBD517F9-6E7D-4B7B-82A5-AD1D8AD96C1E_zpsysn6pfyi.jpg

Measure 5 times and don't **** up this nice piece of wood.
7B72D593-D2BC-43B3-80E9-D33334C2FBF6_zps1njoiv9y.jpg

Perfect.

The bolts are now going through the
vice
Aluminum spacer
Butcher block
Mdf
Top of the tool box
And nuts tighten from below.

10914211-3BF7-4015-BC01-674398216ECB_zpsrji9don0.jpg

when i installed the butcher block top i knew i wanted to get the side cabinet add on down the road.
a year after getting the box my wife bought me the side cabinet for Christmas.

i left a perfect overhang of an 1/2inch per side in anticipation of getting the side cabinet.
