How do you find the snap on mask?is it uncomfortable? I've been thinking about pulling the trigger on one because of how small they are, it would make welding under a vehicle much easier than with my bulky auto darkening

It is comfortable, and I really like how easy it is is to change lenses. But, it's not for a professional welder IMO, it takes a toll on your eyes after a while of welding.

This /\/\ I have the skull version same helmet different design I like it cuz of how close it sits to ur face not bulky like a reg hood so Welding exhaust roll cages tubs stuff like that ur not alwas bumping it but welding for a long period it takes a toll and the field of view ain't that great on the auto dark lens spedglass would be my recommendation for anything long term but if u just weld once or twice a week or less there decent for the money
Paid 130 for the shield number 10 and clear lens and 110 for the auto dark lens

I am no professional haha, I weld on occasion for little projects of my own and my buddies. Also on the odd occasion at work. I have been looking for a fixed shade sheild and I would pick up the auto darkening lens as well. I am going to try one on the truck but wanted to hear what some people thought about them before I did

Try this, much cheaper than the Snap On version.

Fibre metal pipeliner with a flip up lens from a Jackson hood. By far my favorite combination with a gold 10 of course.

I want to grab a fiber metal pipefitter but it looks like the only local carrier I have is grainger... And I don't really want to spend twice as much for it.. Have to keep my eyes open I guess.

As for the gold lens question, it provides a truer view for the welder as the arc flash reflects off of the gold better to lighten the work area better

Jus a cheap autodarkening one with grinder function off amazon. Not used much so didn't need something mega expensive but it does the job nicely and looks pretty too. Came with a dozen spare lenses too.
