I just picked up my first one. It has a 3/8" thick top, 54"x78". Angle frame and on castor wheels. Plywood shelf below. $60.

Photos as soon as I get it out of the van. It just fit with 1/4" to spare.

Not a bad haul at all! My friend and I built his (technically, but we share a shop space these days so it's what I do all my fab on) for probably twice that much money and less than half the size.

I haven't followed your thread in a while, did you manage to get floor space to store this table or is it going outside? :(

I have room, but don't want to give up that much space. I'm thinking of cutting it down, or using it in a future shop. It's a nice size for layout for woodworking too. Meanwhile I will put it in there and work around it.

This will be my primary welding table once I get it painted and in the shop. It is a water bath cutting table. (Note the sillcock drain)

It’s roughly 3’ x 6’. The 4 grates are removable. I want to replace two of them with plate if I can ever find any near scrap price.

This is my original welding table. It is roughly 30” x 50” and all aluminum with a ½” thick top. 3” x 3” square tube frame, splayed legs. Sorry for the crappy pic of just the corner.

I don't have a picture off hand, but I use an OLD 10" cabinet table saw that has been gutted of innards. The cast iron top is dead flat and spatter won't stick to it. I also made some special clamps that fit in the what would be miter gauge slots. Only downside is that you can't hammer on it. It was cheaper than what I could buy the steel for to make one.

Who's going to be the first person to post up their acorn or t slot table at home?

Here's mine, 4x8 with a 3/8" top, the frame is 3x3x3/16 square tubing.
The top is bolted to the frame with 10 3/8x16 countersunk bolts and the entire thing weights about 815lbs.

Do you suppose you could post a picture if you have the time? It's a very interesting idea.

Thanks,
Chris

Yea, I can try tomorrow. First I need to clean a bunch of $hit off of it, for it to be photo ready. In my mind it is the ultimate cheap welding table. Super flat and spatter won't stick to the CI surface. The front and side wings over hand so it is nice both sitting (tig) or standing (mig/stick). The only down side is that you can't really beat on the work piece as CI can be a bit brittle. Then again if I need that much force, I usually have other problems at hand.

Usually you can find rusty old CI top table saws for ~<$50 if you look hard. Heck the motor doesn't even need to be present. IIRC I paid $25 for mine, and it came with a working motor. The open side wings are really nice for clamping surfaces.

Finally got a photo of mine. Having trouble uploading.

In any case, I SOLD IT!!!

It was way too big for me (But a great size for others).

Paid $60 and sold for $350! Almost 6 times as much!

Never even took it out of the van. Had to deliver about an hour away.

We should have an award that is the opposite of a "You ****", for getting a good price when selling...

The right size one will turn up. Or a piece of steel or grating to use. Or someday I'll have the right building for one like it, and one will turn up at a great price.

Patience...
