Almost embarrassed to post this as compared to your creations. My father in law and I threw it together last thanksgiving so that I’d have SOMETHING in this tiny garage. Three car garage doesn’t mean three cars to builders these days?IMG_9986.jpg

I did have to share the wall space with my bike rack

Added a Husky tool chest to the bench and finally finished my first quick-swap plinth for the T-Track side.

I'm in the planning stages for the next plinths I'll build for the work bench.

I took a free Ikea kitchen island w/ butcher block top from a friend, and a free matching Ikea top that was the old work office kitchen table, and created a 2x4 SPF frame to make an 11' x 25" workbench...

That looks great! Nice way to implement a miter station. Any reason you chose the Delta saw vs, dewalt, or Bosch?

So in theory the robotic arms are pretty sweet. Lots of saved space without the slider bars, similar to the Bosch but about $100 cheaper. That said, I actually don’t like it that much lol. It has just a smidge of slop in it that you cannot correct. It’s even worse when chopping out at full extension. For cuts less than 6 inches or so I guess you’d never notice, but trying to cut the full width is just always a hair off.

Bummer! Well maybe the Bosch might be worth the $100 up charge then! :headscrat

I added a 2nd work bench to hold up my cold-cut metal saw and two bench grinders. The latter, one as a general bench grinder and the other just for TIG electrodes.

Damn, that is very clean. Nice work!

I really need a dedicated grinding table like that.

I scored a bunch of work tables and cabinets on an auction several years ago. It was an aircraft electronic parts manufacturer going out of business. People bidding were out for the expensive equipment and parts and at the end of the auction they asked for a bid for all the rest in the room. I bid on it thinking I would get a couple of tables but they said you have the whole room and please clear it out.
I have 6 of the butcher block tables set up in my shop and basement all with steel legs and shelves and full length power strips. Also got many steel storage cabinets and display cases some of which I use and still have left over work tables

The secondary work bench might get some angular supports like my primary work bench. Not really needed since all the heavy work is done on the other one.

None of the equipment is mounted to the secondary work bench. As for the bench grinders, I will probably mount them on 3/4 inch plywood and then use thumb screws to attach them to some common holes on one end of the work bench. I can then move power equipment around to the edge where it is more practical to use.

I'll insert these T-Nuts into the bottom of my work bench. The thumb screws can then screw into them.

Alex, have you considered using the machine screw inserts for wood? The T-nuts are great but if they aren't under tension they tend to fall out when the wood dries. When I drop the bolt into the hole it sometimes knocks them out and that doesn't happen with the screw-in inserts.

I put the final coat of paint and hardware on my three wood top benches. 8a184fe48fb12e2eb55e9a4da5de0e0c.jpg7c76809aecc34bf298fbd2a06bfcc86c.jpg86e75fbdc1d1883322fd6e27318a0498.jpg
I have one heavy steel bench I use for grinding, and oily jobs. When not in use I cover it with a solid wood door that once hung between my attached garage and the house.

Where do you get that style of screw in insert?
