Let's talk air compressors.

Been thinking aboout getting a new compressor. I've been using a 6 cfm Husky H1820F oil free upright compressor with 20 gal. tank for almost 5 years and it has done everything I've asked it to do. It's still in great condition.



It'll operate my air tools, blast cabinet, J&S jack and my Kendon motorcycle lift with ease. The only complaint I've ever had is that it's so damn noisy! Am I crazy for wanting to change? What are you guys using?

Short answer, yes...you are crazy.

Another member here said it best when describing the noise level of an oil-less compressor. "Go to your neighbors yard, dig a hole 6 feet deep, toss in the compressor, cover it up, go back home, shut all the doors and windows in your house...and you can STILL HEAR IT RUNNING!!!!

Seriously, it will make your ears bleed. You can tell yourself that you won;t use it that often so it won't matter, but you'd be wrong. Assuming you can afford a better compressor, I don't think anyone here would actually recommend an oil-less model.

FYI, I have a 60-gallon Husky model using a Solberg silencer.
