Lets talk air hammer bits

What are your most used air hammer bits? What about some not so common ones that are nice to have? I have the basics but there are tons of them out there and lots of specialty ones. Like bushing cutters, exhaust cutters, ones for U joints, ones for oxygen sensors, fan clutches, front hubs, extra long ones, flat ones, etc. So which ones do you use the most or that have come in really handy? I'd like to start picking up one or two here and there.

I have a decent air hammer but don't seem to use it much. Guess I just don't think to use it often. Would like to start finding more times to use it where it would come in handy. What are some specific jobs you use your air hammer on?

I work at a engine machine shop so I use mine mostly to replace valve guides. We have an assortment of different drifts.

I worked a shop that did a lot of shocks. EXTRA long chisel were great for splitting the top nut from above the fender.

Some kind of drift/flat face bit can be useful.

I have the basic pointed and flat chisel ones. I can see where a long version would come in handy. Also see where that shake n break would be nice.

Tapered punch and rivet cutter chisel. I much prefer the rivet cutter to a standard chisel, because I can come in at an angle.

Not to hijack but has anyone used one of these? Impact driver on steroids. At the very least it looks like I could break a lot of stuff really well...

I have one too but can't recall ever using it.
I most often use an angled rivet head cutter and exhaust cutters.

What does this do that an an impact wrench won't? Seems an impact vibrates the nut/bolt just as much.

I've never used one, but I can see it being similar to an impact driver. sometimes an impact gun is just too much...

I use the hammer head ends all the time to separate ball joints on independent fronts. I use a pry bar between the knuckle and the control arm, applying slight pressure and then use the pry bar as a guide for the air hammer to rest on. Then just blast away at the meatiest part as straight on as I can. Hammer head ends are also good for really stuck brake rotors and drums.. Sometimes a good few smashes around the mating surface will break it free. Lessens the risk of destroying a stud with a missed swing of a hammer.

I had 10mm allen head bolts that had seized on an aluminum spacer to steel brake rotor. No way would an impact break them loose without stripping them first...ask me how I know. So, I made a thingy like this and the air hammer hits downward loosening the threads and as it's doing that I'm applying appropriate twist pressure.

Two totally different applications. An impact doesn't hit forward like a hammer.

Hammer head is by far my most used bit. It is great for vibrating rusted parts loose and for getting penetrating oil into all the nooks and crannies.

Flat chisel and bushing cutter second runner up.

Flat and chisel.I had to use the chisel tip bit on a badly rounded off bolt holding a wheelbearing in place which was a torx.Could not get a T55 torx bit on it and all it did was slip out of place,came out real easy with the air hammer.Did replace this bolt too.
