I have been meaning to share a discovery I made this last year... and just posted it in another thread, but I thought I would share and start a thread about getting CLEAN.

Like most people, I have used GO-JO and similar pumice cleaner for years to strip oil, grease and grime off my hands and body after a tough day in my garage.
It always seemed like a chore...
Last year I was at Costco, and bought this, to try, a bodywash/showergel:

Its called:
Dr Bronners Peppermint Castile soap...
Our Costco no longer carries it, but others do, so we have since bought more of Amazon.

I liked it, and my GF says it leaves me smelling great... she now uses it too!
Pleasant Peppermint smell, leaves a "fresh, and tingly" feeling, but be careful around the eyes and private parts to start with as it has an "interesting" cool feel...
The real killer is, it is FANTASTIC at stripping oil and deep grease off my hands and knees...
It has no pumice or gritty stuff in it, yet it just melts oil/grease off me. It has coconut and other natural oils in it so it never leaves my skin feeling stripped and dry like other stuff.
A quick scrub with a nailbrush or shower scrubby is the most I have ever needed.
I told my son about it and he tried it, and he finds the same as me. He is amazed!

No connection or affiliation with this product... just wanted to share... Try it, I think you hard working guys will be blown away on how good it is!!!!!

My GF likes the way I smell after using it... which is a WIN!

What does everyone else find works best?

If you ingest it, does it get you high?
Reminds me of a story about marijuana suppositories.

Joe's Kleen Products 105 also works exceptionally well and is also free of abrasives.

I've been using Dr Bonner for everything for the past 10+ years. It's the only soap I use for everything now. It's saved me so much money and it's practical everywhere. I even use it while camping/RVing as well.

I buy mine at Trader Joe's. I'm sure there are at least 5 Trader Joe's in Irvine!

Thanks for the info. I'll give this one a shot. I have been pleasantly surprised by some other "all natural" type products. Thanks again for the info!

After reading some of the label I'm afraid it would leave my hands green and then I'd be condemned to hell.

Not to hijack this thread but does anyone use any of the wipes that are out there? Are they any good?

At a storage unit I have there is no running water. I have resorted to GoJo or similar and bottles of water....

I'll have to look for Dr. Bronners at my Trader Joes.

I have never used Kresto, but I do think its far superior to all the other stuff I have used.
In the house at this time, I have the cherry stuff, GoJo, and Orange stuff... all those have a gritty feel, and since I got the Dr Bronners, I have only used the above when I ran out and it was useless in comparison.

Hello, TX63CONV For use at your storage unit, take a half bottle of Dawn and fill it with water shake well, works good for cleaning hands, used many a time at race track, keep in truck tool box all the time. If you use Dawn full strength it is to hard to wipe off without water. Jim

This stuff works great on greasy hands for the shade tree garage tech.

Kresto is gritty, but it rinses very clean, and very easy. It is much better than Gojo too. Hopefully someone has used both Kresto and Castile and can chime in.

we use kresto at work, and therefore, i use it at home! kresto is way better than gojo... its my go to hand cleaner. the grit is crushed walnut shells, so it smells a little nutty, but it rinses easily and leaves hands soft. great stuff!

I love Dr. Bronner's, though my eyes can no longer read the manifesto that mentions Mark Spitz and the word 'dilute!' over and over! Trader Joe's sells it in bar form now which helps from using it up too fast.

Liquid or bar soap?
I have not tried the bar yet.
Here is how I use the liquid, normally in the shower:
Pour a little into the palm of my dry hand, maybe a tablespoon.
Massage it in and lather it up until it floats all the grease and oil off.
Rinse, and examine my hands. If I have "ground in" grease still in my skin, or along/under my nails, I put a spot on my nail brush and a quick swipe, and it is gone. On my knees and elbows... I put a squirt in my nylon shower scrubby thing and a couple of wipes and I am sparkling clean.

Yep! I use it too. A small squirt and rub my hand before getting started with the job. I also use Vaseline. Removes a lot of the dirt and keeps my skin smooth and lubed.

I use dish liquid washing soap.
It is designed to cut grease but be kind to hands.
If I was in real dirty grease after the first wash I work in a grape sized glob of cheap hand lotion.
You can see it turn gray as it mixes with the grease left in your pores.
Then wash a second time.

Don't leave the peppermint Bronner's on your sensitive **** parts too long.

That is all I will contribute...

Does it clean as well as a pepperoni and extra cheese pizza or french fries ? I know you can eat those.

Dont forget mcdonalds cheeseburgers. My wife and daughter have been grossed out a few times by the stain staining to come off during a meal.

I use WD40 or diesel and a rag or paper towel to get the visible grease off my hands.

If I need cleaner than that I'll follow up with dish soap or Lava and a scrub brush for my nails.

I have never been impressed with Dr Bonners cleaning ability. For that I have yet to find anything better than the old cheap LAVA BAR soap. What Dr Bonners does do well is gets any residual petroleum smell out of your hands. The guys who repair the fuel tanks at our hanger use it regularly. Keeps them from going home smelling like Jet fuel.

My routine would be to use Lava bar followed by Dr Bonners if I have to be presentable and not stink up the place.

20 Mule Team Boraxo powdered hand soap works incredibly well for me. I buy it on line in the 5 pound bulk boxes and use a sugar dispenser (like in a restaurant) to pour it. Get those at the Dollar Store for a Buck. I have not found anything better, safer or faster in removing dirt, grime and grease. There is a Heavy Duty version (a little more gritty) in the red box that is even better. Sometimes I use that - depending on how dirty my hands are.

Thanks for the tip on this stuff. Bought a bottle while our Costco still had it and it only takes a drop or two. Great to use on other body parts in the shower to get the grease off of them too.

I use dish soap. The main thing is don't wet your hands first. Lather it up with no water. Then rinse it off. That seems to do the trick for me.
