Another vote for Maglite ML300L or ML300LX. I've been using one for 2 years now, and it's been fantastic. Accidentally drove over it with a car last year, aside from some scuffs from the concrete it's just fine. Works perfectly. In Eco mode (which is still pretty bright), it will put out light for days at a time. Keep one in my daily driver.

For a smaller, lighter flashlight, I use the latest generation Maglite LED 2-AA flashlight.

Im waiting to get a hold of the new Milwaukee USB 700l LED flashlight. I havent seen one here at the usual suspects yet. Also waiting to see reports on how well they hold up.

Ideally Id buy a Streamlight Strion or Stinger but the Milwaulkee is less than 1/3 the cost (assuming its decent).

Got lots of mags (mini and full size LED) but my current "bright" LEDs are the rubber covered 700lm Duracells from costco. Yeah they are bright, but I only give them about a 7 on the durability scale. Ive exchanged a few already.

SureFire user here as well 4 in total (2 6px pros, p2x Fury, E2L) and I just warranted a 6px 2 weeks ago it was about 6 years old. I emailed got an rma # and within 10 days they sent me a brand new light... Zero hassle just as they said. All they ask is that you ship it to them with tracking and insurance just in case. Was returned thru fedex...

With that kind of service it would hard for me to buy anything else. I’ve depend on my lights day in and day out and this is the first failure I have had in 8+ years And lots of batteries.

And I’m very ROUGH on them...

Same. They take standard batteries too. I like the surefires and similar lights, but they arent designed for general use. Low runtime, ultra bright-its a tactical light. Also the CR123s are $$ and **** to find.

This is totally incorrect they offer multiple configurations including lights with low and high modes that offer plenty of run time. Every one of my lights is dual output. My E2L will last 6 hour on high and 100 hours on low. And Batteries can be had at or slightly under a buck a piece if you know where to look.

Zebralight - have two of their headlamps. I could easily do away with any other light, such as the fluorescent lights in the garage, when using the Zebralight. I carry two rechargeable batteries with me. Three batteries will get me thru an 8 hour day operating at full power brightness.

I have quite a few different size Maglite LED’s that I got on the cheap using SYW points at Sears. I’m not impressed with them as they’re bulky, heavy and don’t seem to be all that bright. Lately, I’ve been picking up the cheap $10-20 tactical flashlights whenever I meet up with my Dad at the Gun & Knife shows. They are just as bright as the $100 flashlights and have been fantastic in every aspect. Plus if ya misplace one, they’re inexpensive to replace.

Streamlight Polytac on my waist every day and is used daily.

I also have one mounted on something which would be terribly efficient in eliminating unwanted houseguests.

Neither light has been effected by drops, water, extreme temperatures or recoil.

The only thing I would change is making the bezel the same diameter as the light body, so it was a little more comfortable to wear, but I understand the need for it's shape in relation to the light output and distribution.

Outstanding lights for under $40!

I have a 200lb English Mastif and a 120lb Great Pyrenees, I don't have strange backyard sounds! If someone gets close to the fence they let them know to not come over it. When that happens at night I grab a no name 18650 rechargeable I got off Amazon for $13.00. It's a great light and lasts forever (6 months currently) on a charge.

The Maglite ml300 and ml50 lights are great if you want something bright with good reach and that use common batteries. These are C or D cell lights. I also like Pelican lights. My favorite budget light is the Atactical A1 of the A1s. Single 18650 (usb rechargeable, included) cell light for $20 and $30 respectively on Amazon. I can't vouch for long term durability but they are great for the money.

Malkoff. End of story. His lights are expensive but no matter what you do to your light, Gene Malkoff will always fix or replace a Malkoff product. As far their looks--to each their own. I like the simple design and the fact they are tough enough to use as a hammer.

Have a couple 3D cell Maglite that I put led bulbs in, and My Mini-Mag is due for replacement with a LED Mini-Mag. There might be brighter flashlights sold; but these are what I like when it comes to a "normal" flashlight.

I like HDS flashlights. They are expensive but built very well here in the USA!

I have had 3. When my search light when out on my hummer in Iraq we used my flash light to scan the road and sides for IEDs. It was the brightest one we had. Small form factor, one 123 battery and a decent run time.

I lost one, my daughter took one, and a co-worker stole one. I need to buy me another one.

I couldn't stand the thought of losing an expensive light so I read a lot of forums and ended up getting this model. I have carried it for over a year without any problems. I use a 14500 battery. Lumen output is not exaggerated. A perfect size and power level for my EDC.

I also have these two other thorfire models and am happy with them as well. Well worth the money. They aren't surefires but they work great and have a good user interface and are well made and cheap.

The bigger version of that. Ds? I think it needs batteries about to order some
I'm used to be a Maglight guy but the power density and lightness of a Strion LED takes me into another level. Definitely check out small ones like Strion or pen flashlights.

They emailed me parts number and said I had to hug the parts to rebuilt my 6p

I have an old 2D cell Maglight I put a Malkoff drop in into. It's now the brightest flashlight I own. It'll light up road reflectors a half mile away. Love it.

Nitecore P12. It's 1000 Lumens. Ergonomics are fair. Hasn't failed yet. Comes with a universal charger, but you have to take the cell out to charge it. It's going to do snowblower duty this winter.

My next flashlite will be either USB rechargeable or have a drop-in charging base.

IF you are looking for something reliable, super compact and easy to carry I absolutely love my Olight I3S EOS its about the size of a stick of chap stick and has three modes, don't let the size fool you the medium and high mode put out an impressive amount of light, damn things pretty much bullet proof and it runs on a single AAA making it easy to get replacement batteries anywhere. Batteries last a long time in this light to. Cant beat the price around $11-14

Love my Streamlight Pro Tac 2AAA. Got it for Christmas two years ago and use it every night to take my dogs out. I'll buy another when it craps out but I'm impressed with the durability and brightness. It rides in a pants pocket without a problem. If memory is right it was about $25.

I’d Try calling them instead. Talk to a human and explain your situation. If it’s just a tail cap failure I don’t think they will warranty it. they will sell you a tail cap for a few bucks... They consider them consumables. any other failure should be sent in for repair. Sorry it not happening as smoothly for you... maybe there warranty was different then (the orig 6p is 2 generations ago) but I’m not positive. A quick call should clear up any questions tho...

This Streamlight Stinger LED has served me well in the last 5 years in a pig iron smelting plant. I bought one for home and work gifted everyone a custom laser engraved one for a record we broke. I have zero reasons to want to try something else.

Don't be so quick to replace your light. Head over to candlepowerforums.com and research how to mod them. You will be amazed by what a new drop in can do for an old light.

Yeah, I know. It's not the same company, just a name. And outlandish TV commercials. Wouldn't buy one on a bet.
BUT I was given one, and they really live up to the commercials. Zoom actually works, tight beam. VERY bright. (how's that for an objective spec) Then they showed up at Menards for 10bux, so I got a few more (one to replace the one wifey stole).

Kinda chunky (2 aaa's), but still pocketable if your pants are on the baggy side.

I have one of these Nite Ize lights off the Snap-On truck. Got it in orange so it's easier to find. Size is awesome, pretty good brightness, takes a AA battery. Got mad once and blasted it off the floor hard, still works fine

They have a 10 year warranty, you should send them back. I've had mine for many issue free years. Love the battery life on lower settings. Seem to last forever.

After 4 broken quark minis and 1 maelstrom I had to warranty I gave up. It was a total waste of my time. The back and forth. They are Great lights just not tough enough for my needs...

I switched over to LED lights powered by 18650 lithium batteries. Lots of light in a small package. There are several good brands but I have been very happy with my Solarforce lights. Good quality and good value for the money.

My Maglite XL200 has served me fatefully. I find the adjustable brightness to be very handy.
