Finished priming the whole and now ready to add some color. I am leaning towards making it 2-tone - white and grey and adding a red or blue around the middle.

Tommyrox's Garage Makeover

Examples:

Paul's 17x20 2-Car

Single car garage revamp

I used Kilz2 to prime everything and thinking I'm going to leave that as the white so all I have left is the gray bottom and stripe.
I intended going back over and painting with a high gloss paint but now I think I am sticking to "primer flat".

Welcoming any and all paint tips

I think that's what I am going to do also - looks great. I saw a garage on here somewhere with a checker board border around the top...nice addition.

In the end, most of the stripes get covered.

Can't go wrong with gray and white. I like blue but nothing in my garage is blue, red would have matched some things, but just wasnt digging red on the walls. I went with a black 6" line about mid height. Here's a crappy pic, garage is still under construction.

Painting seems to be a hot topic today!!

I just finished painting my shop ... used a VERY pale white (custom mixed Clover White) on top, green tinted gray on center, dark green (Oliver Green) on block with an Oliver Green stripe. All semi-gloss for durability and cleanliness. The whole process is more or less summed up on my build thread Posts #111 thru 114 at:

But, if you don't want to wade through another painting thread, a couple of final pics here:

IMHO, I don't like leaving primer as a finish coat. It soaks in too much, doesn't provide a durable finish and loses its "new" look too quickly ... shows every mark, smudge and rub and can't be cleaned. If you want a flat look, apply a flat finish paint over the primer.

I did a light gray, with correguted steel on the bottom, and a semi gloss black 2x3 trim/shelf. I wish the light gray was semi gloss, but it was a free 5gal bucket of flat white, that I added the black to. The semi gloss reflects more light, and is much easier to clean dirty fingerprints off of.

Please ignore the temp conduit over the future plugs (they are dead at this time).
