I had a shelf come crashing down and the wall space is now covered in peg board. I put up a 4 x 8 sheet and bought some multi-piece packs of hangers etc to get started.

The thing I'm realizing about this board is that its a "organize as you go along" type of thing. My tools are in the tool box, and I'm not sure I'll hang a bunch of tools on it. Maybe some miscellaneous ones though.

So post up how you guys organize your boards and what kind of stuff goes on the boards other than your tools. Share some pics if you got them, I'm looking for some ideas.

I don't store my main tools on my pegboard. That being said, I love the stuff. I bought and used about ten sheets of it when building out my garage. Didn't like the white though so I painted it with Hammered paint. Enjoy.

Obviously I have lots of space yet to utilize but I love the flexibility

Here's mine. No real rules to it. Tools that just don't seem to belong in the tool box I guess.
Though lately I'm considering moving some of the higher dollar stuff into a drawer.

Wow, 6 posts on a peg board thread and nobody has chimed in to tell you how awful pegboard is. That's got to be some kind of record.

I like peg board and hang wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers, hammers, hand saws, and other misc. items on it.

There are 2 grades of peg board.. the type that is sold in the home centers, and the "industrial" type that is used by the store fixture people. I don't have a source for the industrial type any longer, however, if you search out a used store fixture supply company, you should be able to buy some from them. They are usually less than the 48" wide by a inch or so, since shelving is manufactured in 24", 30", 36", and 48" widths, and the peg board has to fit between the fixture uprights. I have this in my garage, and I have heavy pipe wrenches hanging on hooks, and it hasn't failed yet.

I just did a peg board at work... Great for a assembly work stations where a lot of small hand tools are used. I found that McMaster-Carr has aluminum peg board. I had already bought a sheet of plastic.

It might be what I end up using for my home shop. I know there are other sources that may have better prices... Kind of like the idea, might be nice inside the cabinets.

Edit: Sample photo added showing aluminum pegboard overlay.

Some people love the stuff. Some hate it.

I would go nuts if I had to open a drawer every time I needed a screwdriver or a pair of pliers. Commonly-used tools are great to have out and waiting for you.

I have some in my garage. I also have some in my basement workshop. I thought about using it exclusively and getting rid of the tool boxes :shocking:, but haven't given much thought on how to organize it. Right now it holds my longer tools, extension cords, and misc. stuff.
These are older and more disorganized pics, but you can see how it WAS being used...

I ripped the drywall off the wall I built my workbench on as I wanted to attach the bench base straight to the studs, so my pegboard is also mounted straight to the studs. Same with the other wall. I have a small piece over drywall above my parts washer though, that I used 1x2 to space out

I have two different types of Peg Board. Wall Control and the standard Peg Board made out of PVC. I painted it black to match the rest.
Both work great and give me the option to configure it the way I want.
