I'm on the hunt for a solar charger setup for a couple different things. I have a semi that sits for periods of time when we dont use it and depending on where its parked, I can reach a cord to it. I have a Schumacher 1.5 watt trickle charger wired in that keeps it maintained. I also have two trailers that I would like to just keep maintained while sitting long periods. Yes, I know that disconnecting the batteries would be the best, but one of my trailers has 4 separate batteries in it, the other has two, but are not easily accessible. Our small 14' enclosed has an all weather Battery Tender built in, works great if we can reach a cord...
Battery tender has a couple different panels, but the guy I talked to at SEMA didnt give me a warm and fuzzy on his own panels. I think 3 watts would be plenty, again, I'm only looking to maintain, not to replace a generator.
Installation differences will not be a deciding factor, I'll wire it in as I see fit for each application, just seeing what others have experience with before I buy
