I was recently at the town wide junk swap, where twice a year there's a 5 mile long garage sale along a 2 lane highway. It's known as "Antique Alley". It was there that I saw something I hadn't seen since I was a kid in the 1980's. It was a water cooler from the 1980's, with the big bottle still on the top. It was brown in color, and looked very old. I thought about buying it for $25.
I remember my grandparents had one in their upholstery shop back in the 80's, and it looked a lot like this one. I remember that the water was so cold that it would actually hurt your fingers if you ran it over them for 5 seconds.
The one I've got in my house today doesn't match that performance. The water is just barely "cold". It's a little beyond cool, but it's not cold. It won't cause pain to your fingers. So are there any these days that get really cold? Or do I need to buy that old 80's model cooler if I want it to be really cold?
And let's say it needs repair. Can they be feasibly repaired? Looking forward to hearing what you have to say about water coolers. Some people might call them a dispenser, but I've always heard them called coolers.
