LG mega mini split

Does anybody have any reviews on a LG LS240HEV mini split a/c heat pump

My shop is 800 sf and my oil furnace is an old miller out a mobile home and this past winter has been its last year of survice and i'm looking to upgrade and gain some floor space .

Would this unit be a good upgrade for heating and cooling this space ?

For the cooling now i have a portable a/c unit and it is 10000 btu and it keeps it comfortable in the shop but not real cold i usually only have it set on dehumidify mode.

I have an 18kbtu in my 864 sqft garage and works very well in heating and cooling here in South Carolina. I'm pretty confident that I could have lived with a 12kbtu with the performance I see from the 18. My garage is well insulated with minimal windows and insulated garage doors.

You didn't mention anything about what kind of insulation you have but given your location, 24kbtu is probably the way to go.

Thanks for the advice and i wasnt sure if the 18000 btu would be enough
or if i needed to step up to the 24000 btu so I will look in that direction with the cooler climates here.

Well i was going to order a senville 24000 btu unit but since nobody at sogoodtobuy wanted to answer my call or return my call after I left a vioce mail this past week I've decided on a lg unit again.

LS240HSV2 is the model number with

Cooling Capacity (BTU) 22,000

Heating Capacity (BTU) 27,600

Does anybody have a good reputable place that i can order this unit from ?

I went with a Mitsubishi unit myself, but they are really all the same.

And to answer the OP's question, it would be a good option for heating and cooling the space. Keep in mind though that for the heating part your efficiency drops off at 30 degrees or so, so under that you're going to want to run the oil burner or something for supplemental heat.

Also make sure to clean the unit's filter every month, as the vane's in the squirrel cage can get dirty, then get noisy if you don't. It's a common problem with mini-split systems.

I've noticed a substantial savings myself switching to a mini-split for heat and cooling for 9-10 months out of the year.

Have you looked into a state run energy loan? If your garage is part of your house, you might be able to get a 1.05% loan through the state.

Thanks for the replies . The old furnace is junk so keeping it is out of the question for supplemental heating .

The loan thing is not needed as i have the money set aside for this and it is a detached shop anyways .

Still trying to decide on who to order from seems as there alot of bad reviews on just about every internet based sales sites.

So i guess i will just have to pull the trigger on one and hope for the best.

We put in a 24k 3 port LG compressor and 12 and 9 k heads. Very quiet and fast to heat up, or cool our home. We looked at Fuji, Daiken, and Lennox. Daiken is supposed to be king of the hill, but we're happy with the LG.

Quite a few years later i just couldnt make the decision until this past month and i finally ordered a mini split unit from alpine home air .

The model i bought was there blueridge 24000 btu hyper heat unit.

Just finished the install yesterday and i must say that im super impressed with the amount of heat these things produce . It has been keeping the shop at a temp swing of about 4 degrees when the unit is set to 65° F with outside temp at 40° F.

I will report back with any praises or issues periodically to keep the masses updated.

Shouldn't be getting anywhere near that much temp swing, and those grey cabinets in front of the unit could be causing it. Looks like they'll be bouncing some heated air back towards the unit which will make its internal thermostat think the room is warmer than it actually is.

If you can get the cabinets, and anything else blocking air movement, out of the way. You ideally want clear space so the unit can blow air across the shop.

If you can't move stuff see if the units remote has a built in thermostat which can control the unit. If it does activate that function and place the remote on the opposite wall line of sight to the unit.

I think your right on the little bit of back flow from the cabinets its only the first full day of it running . (Not moving those cabinets as they are connected to my cnc mill)

The remote does have a follow me function I'll try it out tomorrow and see if that causes less swing in temps. (Although i can live with how it is compared to always being about 50° degrees in the shop on cold days)
