Hi all, I bought a Ariens 986103 edger locally for $424 w/ tax. Prices were as high as $489 online. Suburu Robin engine option was $65 more. I love the Robin engle on my billygoat blower. Lowes had a crappy troybilt for $269. I wanted something beefy but not too expensive since I have 1/4 acre and all not edge often. I like the Ariens heavy frame. We have clay soil. I thought the Ariens was a good compromise between $269 troybilt and $699 little wonder. How are the LGT engines? I'm spoiled with a 20 yr old Tecumseh sno King on a Ariens SNO thro, a commercial Honda GVX-160 on a Ariens pro mower and a subunit Robin EX 17 (the subie avaaible for edger) on a billygoat F601S. I love the suburb Robin the best. I want to landscape this weekend and the price was rght! Should I have held out for the subie powered edger. Plus locally all the edgers are out of stock. Thanks for thoughts.

Anyone have a LGT engine on their outdoor equipment? I know they are popular on snow throwers.

I bought a lightly used McLane edger for <$200. Came with a B&S Industrial engine (cast iron liner). Also available with a Honda.

I think you mean LCT (Liquid Combustion technology) I have one on my Husqvarna snowblower and have no complaints with it. For as often as you would use a lawn edger in a residential application it should last 20 years easily.
Here is LCT's website that might answer any questions you have on your particular engine.

Thanks! I'm playing with it this morning. Plenty of power! Runs decent!

I got yo compare the LCT side by side w/ the Robin EX17 on the billygoat. Used the blower to clean up the dirt grass from edger. The LCT is fine. Plus the billygoat has the better EX Robin the Ariens edger would have had the SP-70 Robin which is a grade down from the EXs. Supposedly LCT makes great snow engines so I guess I will enjoy my edger and test this Chinese engine!
