Very nice. Just remember, the faster you clean up, the faster you can have someone else in there making you money.
I here ya! Thanks:thumbup:

Wow, it looks fantastic! That last photo is really cool, what a great shot.:thumbup:
Agreed, the photographer did a great job!

Thanks! And, uh, um, yeeeess I did. I figured at least he's a car guy and he's currently a crew chief on an Osprey in the Marines so he's good!!:thumbup:

Wow! What an amazing payoff for all that work. Congrats on the barn, and the wedding! :)
Thanks!

Your barn looks huge. Man what a great place. All those hard days of work sure were worth it. Your barn is super.
Thanks Don, I didn't think I'd pull it off but in the end it all came together and the wedding was flawless!! :):)

Try to catch you up to date here guys! It's been a crazy couple of months getting the barn done for the June 2 wedding but somehow we managed and got the job done.
I'll start off with just a few weeks ago when the original cupola was put back up on the roof instead of the 2 new ones that I had bought. The one that blew down in the storm was fixed by a friend relatively easily and in hindsight I should have just done that in the first place and skipped the new ones.

A 65' bucket truck made short work of putting it back in place where it belongs!

You'll also notice in the above pic that I got my barn doors hung in place that same week. I like how they turned out.:)

And here are pics as it was 2 days before the wedding. It was a mad scramble at the end to get things wrapped up and I didn't take any pics of the wiring going in but the crew that did that did a remarkable job over the course of 3 weeks in May and literally hung the giant chandelier the day before the wedding! It had to be taken down and completely rewired. I told him not to worry about it but he had none of that and made it happen.

8 small chandeliers, 24 jar lights, 11 wall sconces, 1 porch light, 1 outside mercury light, all run in conduit along with a whole new panel and wow does it look incredible lit up at night!!:shocking:

We also pressure washed the whole place Memorial Day weekend and that was a chore in itself. I was almost hesitant to do it with the mess it was going to make and unsure how long it would take to dry out, but after it was done I was quite happy with the decision.

This was just a temporary osb tool cabinet during the course of the remodel and when time was getting short I decided that instead of removing it and dealing with the wall behind it that I would just cover it in the lath that we had used elsewhere. Love how it turned out!

That really turned out fantastic! I bet the entire time your guests were there, people were barraging you with questions about various areas in the barn. You probably got to a point where you were looking forward to them leaving, so you didn't have to answer any more questions! :lol_hitti

Laine, amazing job and perfect venue for your daughter's wedding.
Thanks, it sure beat handing money over to some hall/club you'll never see again!
Absolutely fantastic! Congrats on the progress and your new addition to the family!
Thanks!:thumbup:
Congratultions on a great finish.
Thanks, and just in time! If I had started a week later...

Nailed it! It was hard as I didn't want to be the center of attention, that belonged to my daughter!

Thanks, Break??:headscrat:confused: I've already started on the small barn getting all my tools back in one place and setting up a workshop again.

Thanks again for all the kind comments guys. The barn really did turn out well and as I envisioned. I had a lot of doubters in the family when I started tearing out that floor and saying it was going to collapse, wasn't worth the effort, etc.:wtf::headscrat

To see the finished project withstand the negativity and shine brightly that night was quite satisfying to my wife and I!
We've had 9 rental requests just in a week so far so I think it'll be quite rewarding in the future.:drool: Special Use permit takes up to 3 months and can't happen soon enough!

Here's a few more of the big night and then we'll move on to other project pics.

And this is was my driving factor behind all those late nights, sub zero cold and endless hours that made it all worth it!!

Here's a South view of the barn as it is today. Has come a long ways in just a year! We're calling the venue when approved The Barnyard at the Farm, find us by that name on Instagram and Facebook if you'd like!:thumbup:

Here's a simple little project I did after the caterer came out for a walk through before the wedding and stated that they needed an additional table behind the bar for ice, mixers, cups, etc.
I didn't want to just put an ugly temporary table there or even one covered with a white tablecloth as it would kill the look I was trying to achieve with my "saloon".
I looked around and found this chest hat I had bought at an auction a few years ago and the measurements were perfect for the small table they requested.

I made a simple stand for it...

40324999780_79a64b79e5_c.jpg[url=https://flic.kr/p/24roawU]20180512_132045 by

And a false bottom to bring the inside up to table height...

41411735834_3e59c368a5_c.jpg[url=https://flic.kr/p/266pYiq]20180512_130000 by
40325000380_369c3a5b10_c.jpg[url=https://flic.kr/p/24roaHf]20180512_130333 by

And it turned out perfect for the space! Nothing temporary and it can stay there forever and blend in well.:beer:

Let's not forget the pumps that I've been working on in my spare time for a couple years now. Got those out and mounted just in time and love how they look so far! I have quite a few more plans for this space and can't wait to work on it some more.
The sad part is I had 3 Camaro's (72, 92, 10)before all this started and now I don't have a single one to park in front of them..
..:wtf::mad::(

Here you can see where the ceremony was held so the gas station was literally the center of attention as guests walked back to the barn.
The station also served as the quarters for all the groomsmen to get ready, drink, relax, etc.
As mentioned previously, my new son-in law is a Ford guy, but more importantly a car guy and currently a crew chief on an Osprey in the Marines. That's his Mustang sitting there.

UM?
Well?
Can I say WOW!
I appreciate Barns being saved even by repurpose.
In your case it is extremely Nice looking!
The thought/vision that went into the detail!
Someday I'll have to drive down just to walk through to admire your creativity!

Wow, Laine. Just got caught up here today and I have to say the barn turned out fantastic! Congrats on the wedding and getting everything done in time. When the use permit comes through, I don't think the barn will spend much time sitting idle.

So we celebrated Certified Angus Beef's 40th Anniversary last weekend by "branding" our barn with their logo. Number 27 out of 40 across the nation!

Chicago Culinary Kitchen catered the event and the food was out of this world!
I'll just let the pics speak of the event.:thumbup:

I BBQ pineapple all the time but never thought about doing it on my Brazilian BBQ setup. Now I'm curious about the rub they used. Sounds like its time to start experimenting. And also, you and your wife have done a stunning job with the old barn.

Thank's for the kind words!
They literally just took brown sugar and pounded it into the pineapple for several minutes, poured the Fireball Whisky over it and cooked. They did repeat the process several times as they cooked.
It was mouthwatering!:drool:

Laine, just finished going through the entire thread. Unbelievable work done on the Barn and the house. I had been following your shed build on NastyZ28 in the past and was happy to see it over here along with everything else you have been doing. Sorry to see the Camaro go down the road but like you mentioned the 5th gen is a lot of fun to drive also. Keep up the great work.
