Lift for Pick up hitch

I am looking for a hitch just like the "Spitzhitch". But, it is way to expensive for what i need it for.
I can't find a similar hitch with a hand crank on it.
There are a lot of 2 inch recepticle trailer cranes but the only one I found that had a hand crank on it was the Spitzhitch.
The ones that do have hand cranks all fit into the bed of the trunk and not the 2" trailer receiver.
What am I missing here.
Help.

Bill

There are a couple but they are all over $1000.

What about adding a hand crank to one of the hydraulic jack style ones you are finding? Hand crank winches can me bought cheap and a couple pulleys could be added fairly easy.

There are fairly inexpensive game hoists with hand crank winches which are as you describe. Mine is rated at 400 lbs.

Img , The "Game" hoist is looking close to what I want. Thanks for the tip.

One with a hand crank is what I'm looking for. They all seem to have a brass mounted on the top, which would make it difficult to mount the hand crank. Maybe that is why you don't fing many or any of this type .

That Spitzhitch is perfect. Just way to expensive.

Looking at the video on Spitzlifts website it looks to be aluminum as the person putting it together wasn't straining much to lift everything into place. But something like that wouldn't be too hard to make using off the shelf components. The only limiting factor is a premade affordable truck crane would be made of steel and not as light as aluminum.

I found exactly what I was looking for while on the internet.
Problem==== It came from Harbor Freight. I found the numbers for the unit.
Problem==== They don't carry that unit anymore. Only the flat base Pick Up bed unit.
I am not the best designer nor would I have the tool to make one.
Therefore I need something already fabricated.

Yes, there are lots of them. But, as i said, that i need a hand winch not just a small chain and hook. That won't work for me.

I think this is the one I'll settle in on.

I tried contacting "Spitzhitch" but haven't responded to me and I don't think that they will.

I settled in on a purchase.
I bought "MaxxHaul 51958". It isn't what I wanted but I think I can make it work.
Plus!!!! They are going to send me a free pair of gloves. Deal closer.
Thanks for the participation.
Have safe Thanksgiving.

And one more added crazy.
I cancelled my order and will wait until Spring to deal with it.
Over night the temp's dropped.
When they deliver it is suppose to be in the single teen's for temp's and snow.
I forgot how heavy these things are and how difficult it can be to get a truck here and have it unloaded.
Talk about getting "Cold Feet"

Isn't that exactly what you ordered? It sounds like you didn't know what you wanted or needed, canceling the order may have been a good choice giving more time to evaluate your needs.

Mikegt4, I knew what I wanted to order but since it wasn't available (unless I wanted to pay $2700} I got a little impatient.
Then I thought to myself----- You won't be doing thing until Spring, so why not just wait.
Order cancelled. I'm glad.

I guess the $300 one with the winch and cable I posted wasn't a match?

Didn't have the side support stand that I think is needed.
They call this a Dock crane.
It had the rest though, thanks.
We are suppose to get 7 or 8 inches of snow now.
Just about the time that they would have delievered

It has a support leg, just a single instead of a pair

There's really no difference in function. With one you are pumping a bottle jack, and with the other you are cranking the winch. Both go from the ground to the height of the lift arm, so full range of motion.

The one with the hand winch *could* be used to drag something closer before lifting it, but I doubt they give you enough cable on the spool. Same could be done with the hydraulic unit as well by using a ratchet ******** the hook.

I have the version below. I've used it a couple times with my trailer. It would take me an hour to build a hitch stand for it from scrap I have laying around. That is on the to-do list.

Best version I've seen was on yt. Guy did the hf bed mounted hydraulic one, and modified it. He added a hf winch to it so he had both a cable lift and the hydraulic jack type lift. His was mounted in the bed and tucked way out of the way better than even a swing case does. But you could easily get one of the hitch mounts for vices and bolt to that. Even if you have to drill a couple holes, it's not exactly fabrication level work.

Fwiw, a hand crank and cable can be bought cheap and bolted to any platform
Make sure that you get a winch with an integrated clutch, a regular boat trailer winch does not. Sailboats with a ballasted lifting keel use clutched winches otherwise when you start lowering the keel (often 1-2k pounds) the weight overcomes your ability to control the lowering of the weight and you end up with a runaway situation not to mention the crank handle freely spinning at propeller speed.

Here is and example of a proper keel winch with a clutch, notice the bulge behind the crank handle. Notice the warning in red under "show description", I have seen the damage a runaway keel does to the bottom of a boat often breaking the hull.

This is what I did. Not a lot of reach past the tailgate, but works for most of my needs.
