Lift install question

I want to install a lift in my shop and have read many of the threads but in doing so have conflicting information. I have the normal cracks running through my floor and some say you can't install a lift if there are cracks in the floor. Others say cracks are okay as long as the concrete is reinforced with rebar. My floor is 4-5 inches deep with rebar throughout. Is this strong enough to install a lift?

When you say normal, what size cracks are you talking about and how many. My floor has a few very fine cracks (you have to look for them to see'em), but not near the anchors. The installer said the cracks were of no concern.

Ive posted this before. I cant find the article now tho. So bear with me. A crack is considered a unsupported edge. The anchor depending on diameter will have a published spec sheet. That spec sheet will tell you how close to an unsupported edge is allowed. The general rule is that anchors should be no less than 5 anchor diameters from an unsupported edge. So if they are 1in diameter they need to be 5in from the crack. Ive pushed this limit before with good and bad results. When it goes bad the anchor will blow out a chunk of concrete. For a pedestal grinder no big deal but a lift thats your call.
