Hey,

We are building a shop that has 3 loading docks. It's a race shop, so our only real need is to bring cars in and out. I have seen dock elevators that would work in the past, but don't know anything about them. Can anyone shed some light?

My first thoughts are to either build up the land at one of the garages and lay down pavement or maybe depending where you are you can use a 4 post lift that can also be used for other outdoor purposes...

They have hydraulic load levers for on/off loading cargo on trucks, most have a hinged metal ramp on each end. Where are you located?

Dock ramps were going to be my original suggestion. But I couldn't find any that I thought he'd be able to get "race cars" on due to ground clearance.

My friend had a custom 4 post lift made. It works great. You can unload a truck thats 2ft off the ground raise the lift to dock height and drive through the door. We unloaded a broken double decker trailer like this. He has 6 grand in his setup. We use it to get the forklift in and out in the winter too. Also no full throttle runs at the building in the snow. Try getting a vette up a dock ramp in the snow. It seems like he gets real busy in the winter too.

the obvious answer is dont build a shop with 3 loading docks, or did you mean you are remodeling/repurposing a shop that already has 3 loading docks?

Sorry, yes, meant to say we are building a shop inside a pre-existing building.
