Lift pad question

I have a Bendpak MD-6XP scissor lift. The pads on the lift are round and have no groove for lifting cars with pinch welds. I called Bendpak and they said they do not offer pinch weld pads.

Are pinch weld pads just not needed on lifts like this? Are they only used on floor jacks?

Thanks all!

I say not needed. My main lift at work is flat pads. The only thing that has ears are the 15" extensions for the bigger trucks.

pads on my lift have been cut in half from pinchwelds
given the choice I would find a better place to lift from
or get some hard rubber and cut a groove in it. I dont know if I would trust
a wood block, even if its hardwood, could split when a load is on it.

If you want to prevent your lift pads from getting damaged by lifting cars with pichwelds, buy a 4 pack of hockey pucks ($4) and router out a notch in them, just like the pucks that "reptilezs" linked to.

Cutting the slot across the grain would help prevent this.

Never worried about I always just put the pads under the pinch weld.

I really like it! I have used it to do brakes mostly and suspension work my cars. Have lifted the CRX, Tacoma PreRunner double cab and my Audi S4. I must say that it is so easy to use I find I use it for things I would have just used a floor jack for even if it would be quicker.
