Looking for input on lift placement.uploadfromtaptalk1418080510425.jpg The barn has roughly 20' of length with a greater than 12' ceiling (actually 16' vaulted). In front of this is roughly 20' of 10 ceiling.
I was planning to place the lift 12' from the wall in the vaulted ceiling space. Gving me a little over 7' of 16' ceiling behind the lift (and 10' high ceiling beyond that) This will work great for nearly all vehicles.
My issue is that if I put a yukon or tahoe on the lift, the back of the vehicle will contact the 10' ceiling as these vehicles are about 16 to 18' long and 6' tall for its full length. This isn't an issue with a pickup as the back of the pickup is shorter than the cab.

I can move the lift closer to the front wall, but that reduces the space infront of a longer vehicle making pulling an engine harder. With the lift placed as I have it, a large truck will have its nose 4' from the front wall.

My question is. If this was your setup how close to the front wall would you place the lift?
My lift is a challenger cl10v3

Thanks

I have about 3 feet between the shelves against the wall in front of the lift and the front of my full size truck when it is on the lift. It is a hair tight but enough for me. I have a gantry that I use to pull engines etc., so I don't need a lot of room

Put it where you show and back in any suburban/SUVs so the hood is under the lower ceiling portion.
