Lift Power

I have a question about powering a 2 post lift, I am about to get started wiring the ceiling of my shop for lighting, fans, etc... How have most of you with 2 post lifts brought power to the hydraulic unit? I was thinking I could put a J-box roughly above the power unit and do a drop to it with SO cord and strain releif attached to the J-box. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Mine is run in the ceiling from the panel and dropped down in some conduit. Previous owner had a lift as well, so when i installed mine i just used this wiring setup.

Mine is run from a JB in the ceiling down using flexible AC conduit, down the lift post, and into the switch box for the hydraulic motor.

Mine is not to code so don't do what I did. since my shop was already finished, with ceilings and wall sheathing, I ended up running some 12/2 from my air compressor receptacle up over the trusses and down to the lift motor. serves 220v-20 amps, 10 amps each leg. Again, not to code, no junction box, prolly should have conduit where it's exposed, etc. but works for me and was cheap enough to do. I just make sure my compressor isn't on auto when I run the lift up...
