Lift ramps, can you hinge them ?

I've just got a prop park8S and the ramp arrangement takes too much space to leave in my garage, and looks too dangerous to leave on the lift... I'm wondering about a possible hinge system arrangement, it may require shorter ramps to work, but it should serve as ramps and wheel blocks... and solve th space issue...

Excuse my pathetic first attempt at Sketchup:

Maybe this exists already, in aluminum or something, shorter than my ramps... Am I not thinking of something ? Once side of the lift has cables and stuff under it, so it may be tricker than I think....

opinions ? I don't want to reinvent the wheel...

I seems you sure would have make them awfully short to flip over onto the lift runway and not hit the car unless the cars are really really short. And if the cars are very low or lowered the shorter length ramp may be an issue getting onto the lift.

Other than that it should work fine..I'd like to see what you come up with if you try it.

our ramps at work are hinged, but the fold down as you lift up. The bottoms of them have wheels so they roll up as you comeback down. They also have a catch on them so they dont fold perfectly straight down. like this right here.

If folding them up is still easier to do then just make a catch bar that allows you to stop them at top dead center. then they are outta the way and you dont have to worry about them hitting the car. like how they would be in your second drawing. You could also keep them as long as you wanted that way

The ramps fit between the runways for storage. I haven't decided where to store the wheels yet.

I thought the Pro Park ramps were made of aluminum?
If the ramps are rigid to the platform at the hinge you could end up supporting the vehicle weight if the lift is not fully down and the ramp is not resting on the floor.
Easy to avoid but somthing to keep in mind.
