Lift Repair---HELP

I have an older Challenger 2-post lift. Last week one of the plastic sliders fell out of the carriage inside the guide/support post. Each carriage has 8 sliders to prevent metal to metal contact with the guide inside the support post. After doing some research on this, I learned it is recommended you replace all of the sliders at once since they are all probably worn out. My question is how do you replace them? Do you have to remove the carriage from the support post? (What a job!) Can you pry the carriage to one side and replace one side at a time? Has anyone done this job or seen it done on any lift? There must be an easier way to do this than strip the lift to remove the carriage.

I have a Challenger Lift and I believe the carriage has to be removed to install the glides.

Carriage had to be removed when I repaired mine. Not a horribly difficult job...I just laid the column on the side and slid the carriage out. The worst part was adjusting the cables at re-assembly. I think it took me 2-3 hours total to replace mine.

Thanks for the responses. My Challenger lift is an old chain driven 27000 model 9,000lb capacity). The carriges are huge and heavy. It was a major job just installing the top connecting piece as I had to notch the roof supports to fit it into place. I am not looking forward to taking it all apart to remove the carriages. I am considering cutting out a section of the side channel just large enough to remove the sliders on each side and then welding the piece removed back into place.

I would not cut on your lift, This will create more problems down the road, You would be better off renting or borrowing a fork lift to help with the lifting and yes I would just replace them all at once.
