Lift safety shut off bar?

I'm in the planning stages of putting a 4 post lift in my garage so i can stack 2 cars. The problem is it's a matter of inches to make it work. I am slightly worried about a car hitting the ceiling and damaging the car. I've seen those crush safety bars that will shut power off if they are "crushed"

Does anyone know know if these will work and if so where I can find one?

You could do that but a photo eye and reflector mounted catty corner would be easier. Just make some stand offs from the top of the uprights or even mount them to the ceiling with the photo head above the controls to simplify wiring it.

Something like this

Thank you for that so that would get installed inline between the power source and the pump if I understand correctly.

In series with the pump control button. Just make sure the contacts can handle the current. That button should only actuate a relay the the pump motor is tied through. If for some crazy reason your pump switch is directly in series with the pump, you'll need either a 20amp or 30amp rated set of contacts in the photo eye. Open up your control box and take a picture if you have any questions.

my 2 post has a cable that runs across the top
when anything hits the cable even by a little bit it will shut off.
rubber fuel line over the cable prevents any damage to paint.
