Since I love to :eyecrazy: at all of you that are blessed with lifts, and would love to own one some day, would it make sense to put all of the lift info in it's own section?

I know it is up to the moderators, but just my $.02 (if this has already been discussed and dismissed, just delete this thread).

I think it fits with the Flooring, Electrical, Heating breakdown that already exists.......

I'd vote yes just because it makes searching for things easier when you have more refined choices to pick from, but who gets the ugly job of going back through all the old posts and moving them to the new section? Any volunteers?

Voted yes, too. Seems like that subject draws a LOT of first time posters. It would be more efficient for them to find answers in one place.

I think it would be beneficial not only to help with selection of style and brand, but also things like placement and accessories. Even installation tips.

I think it is a good idea.

Vote no from me. I already have a lift, and like seeing lift posts in the general section. I would rarely visit the lift section of this forum, but would answer posts I see on the 1st few pages here. I give my 2 cents worth when I see something I can contribute to.

How about a FAQ Instead?

I bought a Maxjax.

After you get a lift, there's not much to discuss on it. Maybe accessories and some troubleshooting, but the basic operation is the same:

lift car up,
work on it,
lower car.

The rest of the pre-purchase info is pretty specific.
1. will it fit?
2. what colour does it come in.?
3. is my ceiling high enough? is my floor strong enough?
4 2post vs 4 post.

I can see the reason why people would want another section for lifts, but getting too many different forums thins out the rest of them too much. I can't tell you how many forums I've been on with like 85 different areas for different topics, and they all have like 50 threads, and it makes the site look dead because there really isn't any traffic. I like a little bit of clutter, as it makes you click on some stuff you normally wouldn't see / look at if it were all in another seperate area

maybe even make it break down to sub cats of 2 post, 4 post, scissor, and in-ground

i have a Derek Weaver W9-D built by Peak i upgraded all the bolts to the next larger size to fit the holes better and tweaked the safety release to work better, it has been fine.
instructions need to be written better.
cost like $1860 shipped to my door.

I think its a great idea. For the guys that are looking for lift-specific information or discussions, they have a place, just like the floor covering section for the epoxy and checkerboard guys.

I have probably only clicked on one or two lift threads in all the time I have been here. And I pretty much never go into the flooring section at all.

Of course, we're gonna cause confusion when some poor guy needs to post a question about the electrical connection for his lift . . .

I voted no....What they said. I typically read them as I come across them here but would I click on a dedicated lift forum, probably not. Wanna read about lifts, do a search....

lift car up,
work on it,
lower car .......yep, nuff said.....

I'm currently looking for a lift and I go on this forum almost every single day since I joined trolling for new information on lifts (and Bend Pak is not the only one out there) and have to skim through 4 pages (if I don't miss a day) of mostly things I'm not interested in. It would make it easier if it had its own section.

i vote no because it just be a war ground for the rotary vs bendpak. ameican vs everybody else. One group will donimnate the other with name calling and vile words.

i like the idea of a lift section because it will help some focus their search and will most likely reduced duplicate questions.
i hate to imagine not having a flooring section. i have been able to answer all my questions without posting a bunch of them by not having to wade through non flooring posts. being able to just sit and quickly read darn near every flooring post is great.

Heck yeah, many of us started our search in the forums here for lift info myself included. That would be great to have one spot for all lift info and discussion.

Very well said, I'd have to agree.
It would be a useful section, but too much thinning out of traffic can cause things to look really dead in the end. Double-edged sword.

I am looking for a lift now and I would be interested in hearing what you ended up buying and why.

Bumping this as I think it's a great idea whose time has come.
Seems like about half the posts in the general section are about lifts.
Would be helpful to all if it had its own section.

I am not voting. If I was I would vote no just to be contrary, and I don't want to be contrary so I am not voting. I don't have room for a lift anyway, so I shouldn't be voting, but I do look at other things I can't have.:headscrat

Not sure there would be enough activity for it's own section. Then again, the flooring section seems to get more activity than I would have thought. Not sure if a lift section would have more activity than flooring (?)
