Ive got something going under Metal Man MP140T
but havent gotten alot of response so trying a new topic thats less specific.

I bought a cheap torch for the boys to learn some basics of TIG.
If they like it vs stick and wire then they can upgrade later.
What does the trigger control?
Gas flows thru the torch head and the knob controls flow.

The trigger has the same function as a foot pedal control. It controls the amperage up to the max amperage that you set with the dial on the face of the machine.

Think of it as sort of an amperage throttle control on a motorcycle vs a car , ie trigger vs pedal, and the dial is a throttle stop limiting max amperage

On a cheap torch the switch is for activation, i.e. on and off. When I had my wire welder setup for scratch start all the switch did was activate the transformer.

I think that’s where the 2, 4t stuff fits in.

Never investigated it though, as. I always use the foot pedal on my Invertig as set up by HTP.

2T and 4T are touch functions related to the torch switch itself, 2T is on and off, 4T is a little more than that and usually used in relation to the pulse, frequency, start and end amp settings on the welder.

Just go to YouTube and search on how to lift arc tig welding. Simple as that. Your torch is just an air cool torch with manual gas control. The button on the tig torch is just an on/off switch inside a paddle shape or button or foot switch. There are no 2t or 4t or any post flow , pre flow controls on your particular welder. If it has must be hidden. You set the amp on the welder, when you weld, the current will be on max amp it is set to. That is it no other variable for you in term of welding parameters. You might be able to use the solenoid to control gas flow as well. But flow volume is still at the torch gas control or the regulator . Basic on/off.

This is the lift arc example
