Lift Suggestions

Hello,

I am considering getting a lift in my garage at home. I have done some research and read some forums but looking for up-to-date suggestions if anyone has them. I will be mostly working on a small cars and light trucks. My ceiling is 10.5 feet high and the lift will go in the center of a two car garage. I would like to be able to move the lift if possible to be able to open doors and just general mobility around the shop area. I do need to be able to get under the vehicles. I have seen the MaxJax M6K lift and have questions about it but I am also wondering what else might be out there as a better solution.

I do a lot of welding and general mechanic work. I am also building a race car and being able to get under the car would be nice.

When I had 10.5’ ceilings, I bought an Atlas BP8000 floor plate lift. I could put my BMW E36 and E90 up 6’ so I could stand under them. Worked great and was inexpensive. If you have no budget, look at Mohawk A7.

If you can fit it, a 4 post lift could lift the racecar project up out of your way when you need the storage or work space.

I have a 4 post now, since I moved the the barn floor is wood. I bought castors so I can move the lift, although I have not in 3 years. Not as good for working on cars as the 2 post, but I bought one with about 41” between the runners so I could drop a subframe and engine out the bottom if I wanted. And I bought a tall one so it can go up 7’ and not interfere as much with walking around when it is not in use.

I've been shopping around for a lift myself, and I'm leaning towards the Triumph C7000.

Similar concept to the MaxJax, but higher lift height capacity and more locking positions.

No casters to wheel the columns around, but if I find myself actually moving the columns with any regularity, then I'm sure I can figure out a way to attach some casters like the MaxJax.
