I like it! I was just over at a guy's garage this weekend looking at the motorcycle/ATV lift he recessed into the garage floor. When it's lowered the top of the lift is exactly flush with the rest of the floor, it works out really well.

I recessed the lift 5" in the ground. I did not want to lose the height(5") so I dropped the middle also, and since I have an Avalanche I thought I would go another 5" since my ceiling is only 11'4. Making the total recess 10". I am going to put aluminum 1/4" diamond plate down the middle to cover the recesswhen not in use.

I just bought this same lift .. you did a great job..

a couple questions

1. would you go wider if you could in the middle where your step down is by using thinner walls?

2. How did you route your hydro and air cables under the slab ?

3. What did you do about your overhead garage door .. isn't it and the opener in the way when a vehicle is lifted?

Thanks

awsome job

Very nice install! Thanks for sharing the process with us.

I was left with a couple of questions as I read the posts. Berg addressed one of them;
How did you route your hydro and air cables under the slab ?
I presume you ram-rodded a tunnel from the pit to a hole under the base of your control center (photo of its location shown) but not certain of this. And, the other has to do with draining the pit should there be a flood or spill - don't ask me why my mind conjures up such negative thoughts, it just does.

Thanks for the install thread w/photos - really informative.

This is an awesome post. Great job on the lift, I hope one day I have a garage half as nice. I love the concrete work you did – looks top notch. I can only imagine what type of Heck it was cutting all of that concrete. I did some radiant work in my house and cut up some of the slab.

How did you get the first piece out of the hole without breaking it up? I like the 3D solid model, what software did you use?
Regards,
Rick

I'm curious how you lowered the lift into the slab? I'm planning a similar project for my garage and want to make sure I have my bases covered...
