Trying to get my 2 post lift wired up. I have an existing 240v outlet near my lift. I'm wanting to add a junction box inline with the existing outlet, and run a new wire out to the lift. Existing is using 2 strands of 6gauge thhn wire and a ground wire, and is a 50 amp cirucit. I don't see myself using anything else on that circuit for quite a while. Could I run 12/2 romex out of the junction box to the lift?

you cannot just add #12 wire to a 50a circuit like that.

first off, the lift probably requires a smaller circuit than 50a and you havent told us what voltage the lift is rated at.
