There is a huge difference between misusing a screwdriver or not realizing jack seals can fail compared to completely failing to realize an engine hoist requires the most basic of physics principles to operate.

As far as Moral grandstanding, the definition includes that the person making said statements would benefit in standing with the public. Mike did not. The only benefit was to you and your well being. He cared for a stranger, or should I say did until your reaction.

Some people don’t have and can not be taught mechanical abilities. Many here would see you trying to use a hoist in the manner by your own admission, would constitute a lack of the basics.
Thanks for the enlightenment. I really should have dusted my Physics 101 book off like everyone else here does prior to performing different types of basic every day mechanical tasks like picking up the front end of my lawn tractor with an engine hoist as opposed to using it for picking up the engines that I normally do with my load leveler. Oh wait, there is a glove shortage at the moment so that book is going to get greasy fast! Oh my gosh I let my hands get dirty?

You have done a thoroughly phenomenal job of convincing me never to post again whenever I have a question on how to do something and I will now unteach myself what I have learned over the past 33 years and put all of my tools up for auction too!

Seriously, the concern trolling has made a real difference. I will head over to old toothless Bob's now and watch him change my oil without jack stands instead of ever doing anything mechanical again.

Unless I missed it, what is the objective, working under it, or loading it into a vehicle ? If you need something to just raise it, the MoJack lift systems are great, and secure to work under the tractor.

Now you can maintain, clean or repair your mower without any worry. FIND YOUR LIFT · SHOP ALL LIFTS
You did miss it. Lack of floor space.

Post 1 you stated you removed the front legs. You didn't remove them to pick up any engine with the leveler, or you would end up with the back coming off the ground just the same. I don't know what to say if you need to look at a book to understand levers, fulcrum points, and center of mass?

Uhmmm exactly. The same amount of ground clearance is not required to pick up an engine with a hoist. I doubt that everyone here can articulate an understanding of the 3 items you mentioned without looking at a book. I doubt that you could do the same for matters deemed elementary by others as everyone has their own wheelhouse. No worries though, I am at my local Husqvarna dealership at the moment enjoying their wi-fi and coffee as I should be. While waiting, I got myself a much needed manicure. Hank said I did a really bad job and wants more money than the tractor is worth.

I told him not to worry and told him that you will be writing the check. 🙂

Damn this coffee and doughnuts are great!
