I am looking for the best plan / price for installing new insulated 2 X Garage Doors 8 ft. X 7 ft.

My goal is to have a Toresion Spring configuration with a LiftMaster 3800. I would have the door/track hug the wall & ceiling allowing me to put a 4 post lift in the garage (either side) easily.

Current (Built in 1995): Actual Dimmesions
2 X Garage Doors Clopay Steel (Builder Grade) setup with Extension Springs
2 X Craftsman Garage Door Openers

Future / Plan:
2 X Garage Cloploy ‘Gallery Collection’ (3 Layered Insulation) with Toresion Spring
2 X LiftMaster 3800

I went to Home Depot for an estimate. They weren’t familiar with the LiftMaster 3800 until I showed the salesperson the model in their handout. Supposedly their computer wouldn’t let them price a 2 door install with the LiftMaster 3800, even though they have literature on the unit….

Home Depot quoted me $1,245 a door for a Clopay ‘Gallery Edition’ ‘3 Layered Insulated’ / Toresion Spring and a premium garage door opener (3800 was not an option). This includes new tracks, door, & opener, installation, etc..

Is there anyone that could recommend a Garage Door Dealer in the Baltimore, MD / D.C. area that is familiar with installing my setup?

Thanks - Devin

The LM 3800 will be tricky to source as many garage door companies will give you installed pricing only or they'll really mark up the actual unit. Try ebay too. Also, you may want to price everything from a garage company. I've heard of some folks actually getting better pricing this way too.

nova65ss on this board sells the LM3800. I bought from him and installed them myself. You should be able to get an installed price on the door(s) without an opener.

My door vendor offered to install my openers for extra cost as well. Installing the openers is really quite simple, and needs only very basic tools.

Thanks for the advice.

I found the LiftMaster 3800s for $325 online. Does anyone know of a better price?

I am going to install the units myself.

A couple of people have mentioned nova65ss, I also purchased from him. He only knows me from a post on this board and he gave me a nice deal...Maybe you should PM him and see what he can do for you.

FWIW, I got the optional exterior keypad, and I can't recommend getting one highly enough.

I am getting ready for that low-ceiling two-post unit and looking to change the garage door openers I have to clear the ceiling...

Anyone know of a thread showing the install of these side mounted units? Anything else I need to get besides the motor? Modifications to my garage door?

I am also thinking of getting the channels closer to the ceiling, but that would only require additional straight channels to fill the gap...

Search is our friend...

I found answers to all the questions I had by searching the forum for Liftmaster 3800. Very popular mod.
