Liftmaster 3800 issues

Hello all,

I am having some issues with this used Liftmaster 3800 I bought. It will work using the up and down buttons on the unit, however, the remote will not close the garage. When I am programming the travel limits and have to press the remote (after setting the up position) all I hear is a click. If I press it again the motor will turn the garage door further and jams itself upward. The unit did not come with anything. I have a 1k ohm resistor on my cable tension sensor.

I am thinking it is because I do not have any photo eye beam sensor, however, on the logic board there is no slot for it (or it has been removed). Any help appreciated (I know the low voltage white wire is not secure in the pic)

Sorry but what you have there is a mess. Bypassed cable tension monitor (never a good idea with these), not even any connectors for photo eyes and one missing for the control station...goodness knows what else has been done to this thing.

It is most likely not going to work correctly as-is unless the previous owner has somehow put together some internal workaround. That is a long discontinued model. Hopefully you didn't pay much for it.
