LiftMaster 3800 reverse Installation

Ok I have my LiftMaster 3800 .. I installed it and I came across a snag.. on this 13 foot door, they have the drums with the wire coming off the drum on the side away from the wall.(vs coming off close to the wall.. this causes a wire tention broblem but that is worked out for not). so now when I set up the travel everything is backwards.. up is down and down is up.. I am having a hard time getting the travel correct.. I set everthing buy doing up for down and down for up but my up travel is to high and I want it to stop sooner.. Is there a way that I can reset all the travel distants to the factory settings so I can re set it.. I tried going thru the 7 steps and started with the door closed , open and cant get it to stop going up so far. so If there is a reset ya all know about that would be great..

I haven't worked on this particular model, but the ones I hve eperience on, once you change the preset range settings, there is no "Return to factory preset" button to push.
It will be more trial and error.
As for your cables being away vs. next to the wall, it sounds to me like whoever instlled the door put the springs and drums on the shaft backwards. The fix is simple enough, all be it dangerous if you don't respect the springs. The first thing to do is release all tension on the spings. You will need two metal rods about 1/2" in diameter and two feet long. Be sure you count the number of turns on each spring so you can set the tension back to where it belongs on re-assembly. Then disconnect the cables fron the drums. Remove the entire shaft, spring and drum assembly and swap it end for end. Reconnect the cables and re-tension the springs to the original setting.

With the drums being on the outside, can you tell us which side the red cone (should be colored coded) is on. Along with which side the red cone on the spring is on (should be colored coded).The spring cone is the end that the winding bars will go too, has a total of four holes in it.
this could be low headroom, torsion spring front mount. another easy way to tell if it is low headroom, is the top track Horizontal has two tracks on stacked on top of the other.

I have never done it that way but if you are trying it backwards start with the door 75% closed rather than open. Should be the same either way. Depending on how close to the ceiling it is you may want to turn it upseide down and mount it to the ceiling rather than the wall then it would program like normal. Basically slide it on the shaft backwards with the front to the wall and the rotate it up toward the ceiling. Even if it is not near the ceiling you could probably attach it to the track with some angle iron.
