Which is better... old reliable, or new technology? I have found some old stock of 3800's, and most are selling the new 8500. Just don't want to be the first with new technology that becomes a problem when it has some age on it. Your opinions are welcome.. thanks Junk.

I believe it is an 8500 not 5800. Anyway, the only difference I saw was the 3800 is rated for a larger square foot door.

8500 is the new version of the 3800/3900 (3800 is not offered anymore by Liftmaster so it's old inventory). I'm pretty sure they're the same thing except that the 8500 comes with the MyQ wireless interface.
