Had some guys over working on the AC. I believe they were trying to open the garage manually and lifted my garage door to get into the garage (but won't admit it). Not really sure. But I came home to my jackshaft garage door cables in a spaghetti mess at the top of the door and the door released.
They were young guys who were really nice - if I can fix it myself I'd rather do that, not have to call their company and ask them to pay for a repair.
The jackshaft is keeping the spring under tension, so I think I just need to put the garage door into a position that matches the jackshaft position and hook the cables back up and be good to go. However, I have no idea what position the jackshaft is in. Does the jackshaft (and spring) think it is fully up or fully down right now? Who knows.
Does anyone have any advice as to what I need to do to get it back on the spindle in the correct position?
(I installed this unit myself so I'm somewhat familiar with it, but it was 5 years ago so I don't remember all the tricks required for this unit.)
