Liftmaster 8500 installation concerns

Hello. I'm new to the group and hope I can get some advice. I'm building a boathouse and specified the Liftmaster 8500 and yesterday the installer expressed concerns about the installation because my ceiling is 8' with a slight 2/12 inside pitch. I can't seem to find the exact dimensions that relate the torsion bar to the OH door track. Because I'm chasing millimeters here it's really important to see exactly what the min ceiling height would be. I think we were really close. The installer doesn't want to use a 12" track due to cable issues on the drum. 15" is more reliable. I get that. So where does the drum sit (or center of the Torsion bar) in relation to the top of the track? Once I have that exact dimension the specifications call for 3" from the center of the torsion rod to the ceiling. Also, I'm curious about how the alternate mounting hardware may help the situation. Any advice here would really be appreciated. I just learned that the doors that were to be ordered three weeks ago were not ordered because of this concern and now I'm behind schedule to have the boathouse for May Long weekend.

If your torsion bar end up too close to the ceiling, install the 480LM kit or pocket the ceiling to clear.

I think 8ft ceiling is going to be a challenge without some special mods. I have 8ft 2in ceiling and a standard 7ft door using the LM3800 and it barely fits.

The RJO offsets the 8500 about 6 inches from the shaft. In any direction. So I think that would work in your situation as long as the shaft is less than 6 inches from the wall, Well, 6 inches, plus the about 3 inches the 8500 already sets the shaft. Basically, the RJO replaces the direct connection with a short chain and sprocket connection. Should work in your situation.

Thank you for your replies. I will share this with my builder. I cannot pocket the ceiling BTW as the Underside of the HIP trusses would have to be cut. This really is a rookie error on my part for not knowing a 7' OH Garage Door will fit in an 8' ceiling.

I have a 9' door in a 10' ceiling with a 8500 opener.
I remember lowering the bar somewhat on the track brackets when I installed the opener, but it was a relatively simple & straightforward project.
