New garage is going to have 3 8500 openers (if the doors ever arrive).
Didn't realize the lights are now wireless.

Reading the opener manual I come across this statement - "Multiple operators in the
same garage may cause interference between lights. Program all lights to one operator
to avoid interference."

Really?

I have two 8500 wireless lamps, and two Liftmaster openers; of course, they still need 120V but I programmed them to both go-on from a single opener operating. I have one at the door header, and one at the stairs to enter the house doorway (it's an attached garage). You can program the duration of the light staying on, I think mine are 2-1/2 minutes.

Pay attention where they say do NOT use LED or florescent lamps. They don't work well with the version of the jackshaft Liftmasters I have. I tried it, and no, they don't work reliably. Install incandescent bulbs, and so-far, they've lasted years without bulb replacement, now that I've said that, I expect one to burn-out.

I also bought three cordless switches, one for each car, and one for the doorway to the house. Instead of hard-wiring a switch at the door to the house, I put one of the cordless 3-button switches screwed to the wall next-to the doorway. Very convenient, just press the door button you want to open, and head-out.

Yea.... but, you have to take this with a grain of salt. These instructions are for 95% of people who buy these products.

This is garage journal - we do special things. What are your goals and how do you what the system to work???

There are a number of threads on this and many members here have cracked into these wireless lights to do different things with them. You can also position the lights and/or boards in a way that you won't have interference problems. (I have three openers that control the wireless light circuits independently and have never had any issues with electronic interference between the units.)

In my system, I gutted the wireless lights and use the boars to control the wired lights in the shop, in parallel to the wired wall switches. (So, each opener controls its own wireless board indepenently and that wireless board turns on/off the lights. If any wireless board's timer is on or the wall switch is on, the lights are on. When all the wireless boards and the wall switch are off, the lights are off.) These contactors also operate two circuts - one for the lights and a separate one for a CO ventillation system.

Have 2 lights running off my opener, neighbor has 1. All 3 are LEDs with no problems.

Maybe it was only florescent bulbs that were warned about in my directions, if I can find the instructions, I'll look it up. And just to be clear on to what use of LED's I was referring, I meant LED's in the Liftmaster light luminaire itself, and not referring to LED luminaires elsewhere in the room, such as ceiling lighting. As a matter of fact, I have LED 4 ft FEIT Costco luminaires on the ceiling providing the ambient lighting for the attached two- car garage.

Thes pics do not show the Liftmaster twin Edison bulb socket luminaire, but it is located between the OH doors, and above the tracks, at the gable end. There is another on the opposite wall, which is the entry to the house from the attached two-car garage. I have the setting so both illuminate simultaneously, with the doors opening, or if the doors have been left open for a period of time, when the button to close either door is actuated. Once they were programmed, no issues on their operation.

Here's a pic which shows storage at the gable end of the garage, and how I positioned the lightweight 4 ft FEIT-Costco LED luminaires below the OH garage door track, so I have good illumination whether the OH door is up or down. I only use the gable end storage for lightweight but bulky items like Christmas decorations or empty storage containers.

Thanks for all the replies. While harvesting corn today I thought thru several scenarios, but decided to give the three factory lights a chance before getting too carried away.

I have 3 8500s within 40' of each other, each light programmed to its own opener. No issues. They all work independently of each other as expected.

My remote light on my 8500 isn't the most reliable. It helped when I just went with regular bulbs but sometimes they will stick on. I have to raise the garage door and close it and hit the off switch on the remote. I've long disabled the motion detector.

As stated above, Liftmaster does sell LED lights designed to be used with their openers. You can also just go on amazon and google garage door opener LED. I bought 2 100watt LED bulbs from amazon and they've worked fine for years
