Liftmaster 8500w?

Talking to an installer in the Chicago area today and he mentioned that liftmaster is taking all of their lines to the W designation, which from my understanding means you don't have to purchase the separate internet gateway. Is this correct? Does anyone have any more info on when the jackshaft opener from liftmaster will come with the W designation? thanks all.

I am guessing after the first of the year, and it won't be all of their lines, only the premium lines. 8500 is going to see some other significant changes as well, such as with the battery backup system.

I plan on buying one , but is it worth it to wait to get these new changes?
