Liftmaster Chamberlain Battery Back up Question

Woke up this morning to my liftmaster 3800p backup battery beeping. I had a new battery that I had purchased a few months back for a spare. I got up on the ladder and changed the battery pack and plugged it back in. My problem is it's still beeping and showing a service light on the battery.

Is it reasonable for the battery to need a certain amount of time to charge the new battery before beeping will stop?

Is there a reset to hit after changing. I tried unplugging and waiting 10 minutes?

Or should I be making a call to my local liftmaster installer, just would hate if it was something simple that I missed before calling.

Thanks all!!!

I'd give it time. I'm not going to read the instruction manual for your model to give you an exact answer but my guess is it may need time to charge or recognize. You may look online for your model and download the instruction manual and see what it says about beeping.

I know for my 8500 if it comes unplugged the wall remote has to charge up it's battery. Give it time on your new battery and see if it still beeps.

Well...is it charging? You could measure the current to find out or you could measure the voltage of the battery terminals connected and disconnected. If it's at least a few tenths of a volt higher while being connected, it's safe to assume that it's charging. Of course, it could be that the charger circuit failed, in which case, it's easy to understand why it's beeping at you with both batteries. Is there by any chance an in-line fuse on the leads?

Thanks guys...I think it is the circuit not charging right. I swapped batteries with another opener (the new battery) and works fine. Looks like I am calling for service.
