Lifts????: Scissor, 2 post, 4 post, storage, ect.

Balance is a huge issue with the 2 post. You have to treat the lift like it actually is. It doesn't think. You do that. A car will fall off it, but it's not going to collapse within reason.

So just how big an issue.

Is it a matter of "Hey, you need to check every car every time and lift a little and see?

Or more like it is generally good, but if you have an odd vehicle like a pickup with most of the weight at one end, then watch out!

I check every lift point every lift. Pickups aren't substantially more imbalanced than most other vehicles. Get your lift points as far forward and as far rearward as possible and it will lift OK. Get tires off the ground and give it a shake, see how much it rocks.

I currently have 4 2 posts and 1 4 post in my business.
I'm planning a personal shop build and am toying with the idea of either a recessed scissor lift or an in ground 2 post. I am building from scratch so the concrete/dirt work will be easier than adding to an existing structure.
I will also have a moveable 4 post drive on for storage and oil changes.

The second one. 90% of the time it's just normal. As a dealer tech I lifted on average 6-7 cars per day. Even the unusual ones it didn't take long to figure I lifted one this way a week ago so I will do it the same today. On a personal level, you or your buddy have, say, a long pickup. First time up you spend a little extra time looking, setting, and checking. Next time do it the same way. The lift installers also positioned one of these, the perfect parking mat, for every lift.
