I have this fluorescent light in my kitchen. Trying to clean inside but I can't get cover off. Tried removing end caps but they won't budge; look glued. Tried pulling the long edge over top of metal frame but it won't move enough.

I am afraid I am going to break it.

What am I doing wrong?

Grab the plastic cover and peel the edge away from the lip of the steel fixture. I do maintenance and that is how a lot are held in place.

Tried and there isn't enough flex to peel it off the long edge.

yes its a pop in place one
be prepared for it to break as they get brittle with age
may be time to upgrade complete fixture.

Try sliding a thin knife between the lens and the metal frame, and then gently prying apart.

Looking at the picture the left side seems to have a bit of a gap.

Did you see how it was supposed to be removed? If the fixture is not some odd brand may be able to buy a replacement diffuser, then you will know the next time. Not going to rub it in as sh*t happens, and irks me when in the same situation where something breaks.

Sorry to hear, that would piss me off too.

Not trying to rub it in either, but now might be a good time to go LED?
