Updated information on an older thread about light fixture recalls.

I submitted a recall notice online to Cooper Eaton for five fluorescent light fixtures in my shop 10 days ago. Yesterday I received all five replacement fixtures. Good service by Eaton on sending replacement quickly. Now I need to get them installed and toss the old ones. I will save the plastic lenses as they break often and replacement lenses cost as much as a new fixture.

They are recalling certain fluorescent light fixtures manufactured between July 2011 and April 2015. These are residential fixtures sold in places like Lowes, Menards, and other home improvement stores. Go to the link provided by the original OP to see if your fixtures are recalled.

The recall notice states:

"When relamping the lighting fixture, a consumer may not fully seat the lamp into the socket. If there is insufficient contact between the lamp terminal and the socket contact, under certain conditions, the fixture could arc. If there is enough electrical energy present, the plastic in the sockets could overheat and melt. When installed properly, there is no evidence of a safety risk. "
