Light fixture CFL blinking switch off?

I have a Halo recessed light fixture using a 13w CFL bulb. The problem is it started to blink or flicker with the light fixture switched off. I'm getting 67 volts in the off position. The switch is illuminated type.

Any ideas what the problem could be? The fixture is about 8 months old.

My 1st guess would be that the switch is faulty.

Check the neutral attached to the switch Needs it to light the light, see this alot in units where the ground is missing causes the switch lamp to glow

Are you saying check the ground?

If the switch is a two wire version, it is not compatible with CFLs. Basically the illumination lamp (a small neon bulb) is in series with the main bulb but with an incandescent lamp there is not enough current to cause you to see any light. With a CFL it is a different ball game.

Update, I whose using a 13w CFL and thought about trying a 23w CFL (start-up current higher) and over night it seems to have worked.

I'm still kind of nervous about this setup. You're bleeding a small amount of current through something that should either be off or on.

Don't worry it's normal, I can assure you after some research everything is working like it should.
