Light fixture layout questions?

I have a 45 x 60 x 16 polebarn, half of the building has regular trusses half has cathedral trusses for a basketball court. The cathedral part goes from 16 ft at the wall to 22ft in the center. I have read through the layout thread in the stickies, and can't find anything close to my building. I'm finishing the interior with white steel.
I bought 8 Metalux 48" 6 light High Bay fixtures with Sylvania T8 2200 lumen 5000k LED bulbs. Does anybody have any suggestions on the layout of the fixtures, or if I need more?
Thank you for the help.

We have a big old 1800s post and beam barn and we found lighting it to be tricky. Our ceiling is also well over 20 feet tall in the center, probably closer to 25-30. The barn has 4 sets of stacked parallel beams running left/right across the main floor, which unfortunately only gives two beams to actually hang lights off of.

The best solution we ended up with(well, more like we got offered free lights so we took them) were two big 400W MH lamps, one hanging from the center of each of the two middle beams. It provides adequate light, but all the side stalls ended up needed their own individual lights.

Suggestions:

- Get some lights as close to the edge of the building as you can - especially around the main door. Our centrally located MH lights create some really bad shadows near the door, and it makes working on stuff near the door a hassle. We'll probably have to put up some fluorescent "fill lights" to get rid of the shadows.

- Get more lights or brighter bulbs. 48 bulbs @ 2200 lumens each with 2700 sq. ft is only 39 foot-candles - and that's assuming no losses, etc.. Good enough for general work, but if you're going to fiddling around with stuff in the main area of the barn often, you'll probably want something well over 50 FC.

To keep things sane, what I would do if I were you, is place the lights you have now as evenly as possible, and then pick up a few more fixtures and put them in the area where you'll be working most to get the light output in that area brighter.
