Light Fixture Recommendations(?)

Looking for your suggestions for ceiling fixtures. I am thinking of 4 foot twin bulb T8 fixtures. Need a flush mount type. I have 12 foot ceilings, its already wired and sheet rocked. Garage will be heated and cooled.

Would like a design that does not have ledges to capture dust. Have thought about ones with a lens covering it, as well as no lense type with the mirror reflectors.

Any thoughts? Need to go out and buy 16 of them asap. For those that have purchased your fixtures lately, what did you pay for them? The ones at Lowes and Home Depot are not to my liking.

I bought the twin tube 8' HO fixures when my barn was being rebuilt after it collapsed from snow load in 2000. They are a huge improvement over the 4' ones I had before, especially with a high ceiling (mine is 14') Not sure if they make them in flush mount though.

The HD/Lowes are decent and low cost. I am not sure what to tell you without knowing budget and what you are looking for.

First I'd make sure you can get the bulbs easily for anything you buy. I stuck with 4' in my garage because 8' are hard to find and harder to store....

4x is better than 2x setups, I am running 2x's though to keep them pretty even with the rafters...I just need more of them.

There is alot of calculators online to compute how much light you need. I'd hit up one of those first and make sure you get what you need the first time since you are flush mounting. Most people are surprised they need much more lights than they thought.

If you garage gets dusty and is not totally air tight, lens covered lights tend to collect dust and flying critters.

Keep an eye on Craigslist or your local classifieds. I got a line on 4" double bulb flourescent fixtures for $10 each right now that I'm waiting to see pans out, found on Craigslist.

Common folks - makes, model numbers, pictures, of your light fixtures. We all need them, we all have/will buy them. Turn your cameras upward and help me out. Really not looking into surplus (craigslist) unless I can get a full matched set.

I just bought some low bay metal halide lights off of ebay. My ceilings are a bit over 12' and it lites my garage incredibly. I put 8 of them in my 30x72. They're $400 each new but I got them for $53 each delivered with a 2 year warranty.

isnt 12' the minimum for MH- I have 10'6" ceilings and would love to be able to use them...

I did the metal halides low bay also You need to look for --sun lighting --on ebay he has thousands of lights he is about an hour north of me in Indianapolis Indiana joe is a great guy to deal with. He gives a 2 year warranty on everything he sells he will also sell you new bulbs at cost if you prefer new ones I have a 30 x 60 and used eight also,Joe said the low bays would cover about a 15 foot circle at the 11'2" ceiling height I hung them at he was a bit conservative. Im very happy with them. they are 400 watt pulse start and pull 4.06 amps on 120 volt. when Im in the garage for quick in and out trips I have 3 110 watt ho 8 ' fluorescent strips that go down the middle. they are good enough to see what I need to get and get out. If I am just doing general work I use 4 of the low bays. but for detail work I use all eight. with all of them on its like noon daylight, very bright . Im very happy with them .
