I have two hanging light fixtures in my home that I think are original to the house.
The gold plating is kind of crappy and I would like to do is change the gold plating to a brushed silver. My question is has anybody here done any thing like this?? And where would I send them to be refinished??

I can take them down and disassemble them.

Are they really expensive fixtures seems that would cost more than new.

No I don't think they were expensive. I like the way they look and would like to just change the finish.
I looked at lights in home depot and lowes and just think they're ugly

Try a specialty lighting store. They generally have a larger selection and a ton more they can order.

I had some new pendant lights that the finish on the metal parts was brown but I liked the shape. I used aircraft paint remover in a spray can and stripped the paint to bare metal, sandblasted them to get a even finish and then clear powder coated them. Looks just like brushed nickel from the ground. There were not a lot of intricacies in mine and really only took about 2 hours to do 4 though. if its some sort of chandelier it is going to be work.

This. Take a couple pics of your current lights and see if they can match with something new.
