Light locations

I have a new 3 bay garage workshop with 12'6" ceiling. Where to put the lights and what lights to use? I assume LED is the way to go? What about location? Ceiling or wall mounted?

Do everyone a favor, go read the lighting FAQ, the thread about light layouts, download the apps to make your plan, and then come back and ask specific questions. There is already more info on this site about lighting than you could ever believe or read. Most questions are answered. Most people answering are biased toward whatever solution they used.

After you have read up on this and have some ideas about what you want to do then give us the dimensions/floor plan and what you are thinking would be best. Some on what you plan to do in the space would help too - if you use it just for parking you will probably be happy with a lot less light than if you are working on things. What sort of work makes a difference too.

Can you imagine ordering a delivery truck before you know what you will be hauling to where? You might wind up with an 18 wheel Peterbuilt to deliver a single pizza.
