Light suggestions

Hello I am looking for help with lighting for my 32x40x13.5 garage. I have read numerous threads about lights and when I think I have it figured out something changes my mind. This shop will be used for woodworking and mechanical type work. I want it to be bright and not have any regrets. I want to put up as few fixtures as possible and have great lighting.
I'm looking at these lights

Of those two, the HD one would be better, although I'm no fan of Commercial Electric. Look for the same style fixture from TechBrite, Eiko, Satco, etc.
No point using a tubed highbay in new installations. Also, it's way overpriced.

If I go with something similar to the home depot lights, how many would I need ?

12 fixtures minimum 3x4 layout (10'8" x 10' fixture center to center spacing)
Target = 94 fc @ 30" workplane
13,500 Lm per fixture (medium distribution) = 95 fc
16,400 Lm per fixture (medium distribution)= 115 fc

For that ceiling height, I would probably go with the 1'x2' LED rectangle panels, mounted right on the ceiling. Run EMT between them.

My shop has 19+' ceiling so I'm leaning toward the 'UFO' style pendants.

Exactly what i did.... bee's lighting

30 x 40 x 12 building. Very bright, easy to install, excellent quality.

I'd do 8 fixtures in your size...

realhunter - Your fixtures are pendant mounted. Surface mounting is fixture back flush with ceiling. 12 fixtures in a 32x40x13.5 is minimum for even light distribution. Any less and you sacrifice even distribution and will have more shadows.

Whatever you believe you will need, if that is 8, I would go with 12. As we get older our vision begins to fail. You will not regret going with more lights. If you are worried about too much light, split the 12 into 3 switches. I did my 3 car garage with 2x2 LED ceiling mount flat panels and I used 40 of them broken up into 3 switches and I absolutely love the light. The garage is completely finished and everyone who sees it loves the lighting.

I was referring to the lights themselves....
