my point exactly. Put a 6500 next to a 5000 (both are daylight, right?) and tell me they look the same...
Nevertheless, both 5000 and 6500 can be called daylight, both are too white for living-spaces, and neither can be confused as "warm". That's as specific as my original post needed to be... go pick on someone else.

I have had rough service lamps stashed for years but never used them because not fond of getting burned, so used CFL's, now LED'S continue to make rough service lamps less then desirable.

I have a brother-in-law who absolutely HARPS on the subject of "planned obsolescence". I tried explaining to him a million times how most things are not "planned" to be obsolete nor only designed to last so long so that you will HAVE to buy a replacement. It's about designing a product that does its intended purpose for a reasonable life time and can be sold at a price commensurate with the "going rate" for that type item.

I'm absolutely certain engineers COULD design a refrigerator or an automobile that would usually last the buyer's lifetime. But it would cost 100x what the same item now costs.

I think lighting is one area where it has been well established it is true...

I have cases of GE Reveal bulbs in 40,60,75 and 100 Watt along with GE Clear 100,150 and 200 Watt bulbs. When I heard they were doing away with them I stocked up. I have as of last month pretty much switched everything over to GE Reveal LED bulbs, and some LED Edison in certain locations porch/bar. I also have a couple of cases of T-8 bulbs left. At this point I probably will never use any of them. I can now get Glass LED bulbs which are pretty close but not quite as bright. The price on E Bay is a lot more than I paid.

Those bulbs were my favorite. Nothing in LED comes close.

Jealousy has set in.

Same boat here. A case of 25. 40 and 60 watt plus a few 100's. I doubt I will use them.

But what pissed me off was that I have old fashioned 7 watt clear bulbs on strings for the xmas tree which I run on a commercial dimmer at half bright. I had to have Amazon ship them to an out-of-state relative. Come on, what harm are a few 7 watt bulbs for a month out of the year — and not every night.

This is one of the reasons that I admire those who are off-the-grid. They have the skills, energy and toughness to exist and thrive in a non-corporate environment.

They don't really think about planned obsolescence.

Sometimes I feel the easier our lives get, the harder our lives become.
Yet they're buying solar panels or water wheel generators and batteries to run their lights charge their satellite phones while off grid..............................................

Farmer Boy AG still sells incandescent light bulbs. Just go to farmerboyag.com

Not all of them were banned. So clear incandescent lamps along with certain bulbs (appliance, etc.) are still okay.

Three way bulbs are somehow okay too because I guess they're no replacement yet? Something I read from the DOE said they wanted to get rid of these... but I found them on the shelf at the store today.

Your run of the mill 40W & 60W medium A19 is dead.

Sad day when you can no longer go to the local hardware store and buy lightbulbs. The light bulbs in our dining room light are no longer for sale. Had to get some on eBay…..
What type, wattage are you looking for. I stocked up on incandescent bulbs over the years and may have what you are looking for.
