Pretty sure we covered this a year or two ago but I can't find it.
My center bay (have 3) I'm adding a screen door to, I like having the door up for fresh air and just to see outside, but I loose my 8' fixture now hidden behind the open door.
What are some solutions? Don't want anything that might fall off. Door is multi panel type, non insulated.

Great looking garage!!
I know exactly where you're coming from.
I too would like a screen option, so I now have to change my electrical plans to install my lights vertically versus horizontal...kind of like straddeling the 18' wide garage door, when in the up position.
Perhaps, that would be an option for you.
I like how you mounted your various ladders.
What hardware did you use to install them?

I agree, you should mount the lights lenghtwise between the doors...the light should fill the area under the door.

Just thought of this. Notice I have plugs between each door, I could mount some floods on either side of the center door to shine down toward the fenders/hood area. Or rotate to the bay beside them if needed.
Hmmm....

Another would be to mount 4 ft florescent fixtures between the door vertically. ???

Stopped by Lowes yesterday, they have some 4' two tube fixtures with a plastic lense cover. $18.95
I can mount them vertically and run the wire in the wall to the receptical. The had some recepts that have one plug and one switch, I can change out my recept and use the switch for the light and still have my plug, cool.

I'll post a pic when I get it done, might be a week or so. Heading the Charlotte Auto Fair this weekend.

Ever thought of changing the offending panel out to one with windows? Had a friend that had a door with windows and he mounted his light in that location when the door was up. Barring that, I too suggest a light below the door. I'd do a eight footer, but be sure to get the plastic tubes that cover the bulbs in case they get bumped. I wonder if you could just take packageing tape to a bulb?
